Numerical Investigation of Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) interacting with a droplet for Point-of-Care Devices

The mixing produced inside droplet due to incident of surface acoustic wave with droplet is investigated by undertaking parametric study of parameters such as frequency, drop size; lateral position of droplet on surface of substrate. Input voltage to inter digital transducer (IDT) of surface acoustic wave (SAW) device is changed in the range of 10 – 40 V and as a result linear relationship between input voltage and mixing velocity inside droplet is obtained. An efficient design of parameters for mixing phenomena used in different microfluidic applications, which is useful for point-of-care devices.
