If you want a premium, noise-canceling over-ear experience for computer work and music immersion, choose CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active; if you need rugged, bone-conduction audio designed specifically for swimming laps and underwater use, choose Opinta Swimming Headphones.
• CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active: Delivers immersive Hi-Res audio with 50 hours of ANC playtime and advanced spatial sound, but it is not waterproof and cannot be used underwater. Best for the best headband headphones for computer users who demand silence and clarity.
• Opinta Swimming Headphones: Offers IPX8 waterproof protection with 32GB onboard storage for phone-free swimming, but lacks active noise cancellation and has a much shorter battery life. Best for kids headphones for computer or sports that require durability in wet environments.
• The Trade-off: You are choosing between deep, quiet immersion for desktop productivity versus rugged, open-air safety for aquatic activities.
This headset is engineered for the person who treats their listening environment as a sanctuary. The core appeal lies in its ability to isolate you from the world using up to 40 dB of Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation. If your daily routine involves navigating a noisy home office, a busy coffee shop, or simply trying to focus on a complex project without distraction, this feature is non-negotiable. The Hybrid Noise Cancellation system works alongside Transparency Mode, allowing you to instantly toggle ambient awareness with a single button press. This flexibility makes it an exceptional choice for professionals who need to switch between deep focus and quick interactions with colleagues.
Audio fidelity is another pillar of this design. Equipped with custom 40mm dynamic drivers and LDAC support, it achieves Dual Hi-Res Certification. This isn't just about loudness; it is about texture. Whether you are mixing tracks, analyzing data while listening to podcasts, or enjoying high-resolution music files, the frequency response from 20Hz to 96kHz ensures every note carries rich detail. The inclusion of Spatial Audio and customizable EQ via the Nothing X app means the soundstage can be tuned to feel like a personal concert hall or a cinema. For anyone looking for the best neckband headphones for computer tasks that also double as a high-fidelity music player, the sonic precision here is unmatched by standard budget options.

Battery endurance is where this model truly separates itself from average wearables. With up to 100 hours of total playback time—or a robust 50 hours with ANC engaged—you are rarely tethered to a wall outlet. A five-minute charge provides four hours of listening, which is perfect for those "just-in-case" moments before a long meeting or flight. The physical design supports all-day comfort, utilizing memory foam earpads and a cap-friendly headband that distributes weight evenly. At 283 grams, it feels substantial enough to block out the world but light enough to forget you are wearing it during a marathon coding session. It pairs seamlessly with both macOS and Windows via Bluetooth 5.4, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair, making it a universal companion for any PC setup.
This device serves a very specific, high-stakes audience: the swimmer who refuses to disconnect from their playlist. Unlike traditional earbuds that fail immediately upon submersion, the Opinta utilizes IPX8 waterproof technology to withstand complete immersion. The bone conduction driver technology is the critical differentiator here; it transmits sound through the cheekbones rather than blocking the ear canal. This allows water pressure to pass freely without damaging internal components while ensuring you remain aware of your surroundings, a crucial safety feature when swimming alone or in crowded pools. There is no risk of water ingress, meaning you can dive, turn, and splash without anxiety.
The standout feature for the independent athlete is the 32GB internal memory. Because Bluetooth signals cannot travel effectively through water, this headphone operates in MP3 mode underwater, playing directly from the onboard storage. You can load up to 8,000 tracks, freeing you entirely from the need to carry a phone into the pool. This independence is liberating for marathon swimmers or those who prefer a streamlined setup. The open-ear design also ensures that calls and voice assistant commands work smoothly on land, provided you are in a relatively quiet environment, though the lack of isolation means background noise will be audible.
However, the trade-offs are significant for general computing or casual listening. The battery life tops out at 7 hours of continuous playback, requiring a full 2-hour recharge cycle. While sufficient for a day of training, it pales in comparison to the endurance of over-ear competitors. Furthermore, the open-ear nature means there is zero noise isolation; you hear everything around you. This is a feature for the pool, not a feature for the office. If you are searching for kids headphones for computer that can survive accidental splashes or intense outdoor play, this durability is a major asset, but the audio profile is fundamentally different from the immersive experience of sealed drivers. It is built for motion and moisture, not for sitting still in a quiet room.
• Best for battery life → CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active (100 hours total vs. 7 hours).
• Best for underwater use → Opinta Swimming Headphones (IPX8 rating and bone conduction vs. standard plastic enclosure).
• Best for noise isolation → CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active (40dB ANC vs. no noise control).
• Best for phone-free workouts → Opinta Swimming Headphones (32GB onboard storage vs. Bluetooth dependency).
• Best for computer focus → CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active (Over-ear seal blocks distractions vs. open-ear design).
• Best connectivity stability → Both offer 10-meter range, but CMF uses Bluetooth 5.4/LDAC while Opinta uses Bluetooth 6.0 for terrestrial use.
• Best for audio quality depth → CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active (Hi-Res LDAC and spatial audio vs. bone conduction frequency limits).
• Best for charging speed → CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active (5 minutes for 4 hours vs. 2 hours for 7 hours).
I would buy the CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active for my daily life because it solves the primary problem of modern noise pollution while delivering superior audio quality for computer work. Its ability to create a private sonic bubble makes it the superior tool for concentration, travel, and entertainment. However, I would keep the Opinta headphones strictly for the pool, where the CMF model is useless. For anyone asking what are the best headband headphones for computer, the answer is clearly the CMF, as it balances comfort, battery, and sound in a way the Opinta simply cannot match outside of water.
No, the CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active is not waterproof and should never be submerged. Only the Opinta Swimming Headphones are rated IPX8 for underwater use.
The CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active offers significantly longer endurance, providing up to 100 hours of playback compared to the 7 hours offered by the Opinta model.
Yes, the CMF BY NOTHING Headphone Pro Active is ideal for this due to its Active Noise Cancellation and over-ear design, which blocks out household distractions better than the open-ear Opinta.
You do not need a phone for the Opinta Swimming Headphones thanks to their 32GB internal storage, whereas the CMF model requires a connected device to stream content.
