Carl Mazzanti

I am a PhD student at the University of Bielefeld under the supervision of Prof. Charles Vial and Prof. Ignacio Barros. I'm currently thinking about motives of surfaces associated to Fano varieties of lines on cubic fourfolds as part of the project "Hyper-Kähler Varieties and Moduli Spaces" with the CRC 358: Integral Structures in Geometry and Representation Theory, which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft (DFG).

Academic Interests: I am interested in algebraic geometry, particularly complex algebraic geometry, moduli spaces and their birational geometry, and Hyper-Kähler varieties and their intersection theory.

Before starting my PhD, I completed Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge. As part of my master's degree, I worked under the supervision of Prof. Mark Gross on "Logarithmic Geometry and Logarithmic Gromov-Witten Theory".

I completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of Göttingen, where I worked on "Moduli spaces of vector bundles on algebraic surfaces" under the supervision of Prof. Victor Pidstrygach and Prof. Frank Gounelas.
