It's always been a great joy, and a blessing to me, to lead my fellow Road Runners where ever we have gone the past six months. But I must say, escorting Mitch Jackson's ashes, and his family, to his memorial service at La Plata Baptist Church left me feeling unsure if I was qualified for that honor. As I sat at the service and looked around the sanctuary, I was surrounded by many CMA brothers and sisters who knew Mitch many more years than I have, which is only three. I don't ever remember being so nervous on two wheels before, and l'm sure my riding yesterday showed it!!
I have very limited memories of Mitch, having not known him well, or for very long either. But I have a great one that is a true demonstration of his servant's heart, and one l will carry with me a long time! lt was at our yard sale two years ago at Mesa shopping center. Mitch showed up with a huge trailer full of stuff, and he worked tirelessly unloading armload after armload. He never slowed down, as helper after helper would come to help, and eventually be drawn away by some other little job. He didn't quit until it was all laid out for display. Then he went to help Pastor Craig unload pieces of lumber that he was selling out of the back of his trailer! For a big man like him, he was working circles around most of usll And he was smiling and happy and having a great time all the while! What a shining example of a servant's heart!! No wonder he was such a big man, he had to carry that big heart around!!!
I pray for Mitch, and his family, and that if I am called to that difficult task again, the Lord will better prepare me for it.
Love you in Christ

I knew Mitch as a friend for years and as an employer for a short time towards the end. Over the years since 2003, we attended monthly chapter meetings, training, rides and Bible studies. We've shared meals and ideas and concerns. Once Mitch helped me out financially with a loan and when I told him I could now repay it, he told me there was no need. The loan was forgiven. I've never forgotten that.
lf I had to sum Mitch up in a few words it would be..
Mitch Jackson: Quick to love and quick to forgive.
Mitch was a very loving, compassionate and generous man who always had a smile. He was also quick on the draw when it came to humor and got along so well with everyone. I couldn't think of a better friend or disciple for Jesus if Mitch was around back then. He already had the temperament, compassion and spirit for the Lord's work. ln His Service, Steven Graham
Mitchell was a very influential man, not by means of power, position, or wealth; but by means of the example he set as a follower of Christ. He was a humble, loving, generous, and caring man' His smile and laughter would always set people at ease, followed by a ioke or witticism that would catch most "off guard". He always deflected praise and attention away from himself and to the Lord. He loved to make time to study the Word and reflect on the meaning gleaned from discussion, debate, and prayer. Mitchell was a bold MAN OF GOD and will be remembered as such and missed dearly.
