Chun-Yi Coral Su is the Chinese teacher at North Star High School at Lincoln Public Schools, Nebraka. She got her two Master degrees in Adult Education and Currriculum Instruction at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is the board member of Lincoln Chinese Cultural Association, Lincoln Chinese Academy and the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Nebraska. Mrs. Su had taught in various educational settings, such as daycare, summer camp, community center, universities and local Chinese schools during her twenty years of teaching. She is currently pursuing the Master of Edcation in School Counseling through Doane University.
Dequan Jiang works at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is also a Chinese teacher at NCA Chinese School. In 2003, he received a master's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Since 2017, he has been teaching Mandarin Chinese from Grade 1 to Grade 5. He actively participates in the dissemination of Chinese language and culture and organizes community cultural activities. He is the Vice President and Treasurer of the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Nebraska (CLTA-NE).
Mrs. Wenli Rapkin is the previous president of the Chinese Language Teacher Association of Nebraska (CLTA-NE). She is a Mandarin Chinese teacher with a master’s degree in Foreign Language Acquisition from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Early in her career, in 2011, she taught mathematics at Lincoln Public School and has been teaching Mandarin since 2015. Mrs. Rapkin is active in the Chinese communities in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska and loves teaching about her culture and language to high school students. She is eager to expand the reach of the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Nebraska and promote the Mandarin language to a growing number of students in our state.
PD Coordinator - Ms. Chumei Guan
Chunmei Guan(关春梅), MA in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, current Chinese language teacher at Logansport High School, Logansport, IN, has about 30 years teaching experiences of teaching English and Chinese language and culture in both China and the USA. She is the current President of IFLTA. She was awarded the Outstanding Contribution and Chinese Teacher of the Year by CLTA-IN in 2016 and the PD Award by IN-NELL in 2019. She is affiliated with CLTA-US, ACTFL, CLASS, ASSCE, CSCTFL Advisory Member, CLTA-IN, CLTA-NC, Mid Atlantic Chinese Educators Association, etc. She was the Past President of CLTA-IN, the current Board Member of ASSCE and IFLTA; CSCTFL Representative at ACTFL LILL Cohort 4. In addition, she is also the Leader of CLTA-US SIG K12 Classroom and Methodology. She is actively involved in the PD training, connecting with communities, cultural events organizing and social media promotion, etc.
PD Coordinator & Advisor - Dr. Chrystal Liu
Chrystal Liu, Ph.D., is the World Language Specialist at the Nebraska Department of Education, having earned her Ph.D. in Education Studies from UNL (2020) focusing on world language teacher education. A seasoned professional, she is a prolific presenter at conferences and has authored 12 publications, underscoring her commitment to advancing knowledge in language education. Chrystal actively contributes to language education leadership as an executive board member of NCSSFL, NILA, and CLTA-NE and serves as the assistant president of CLTA SIG K12. As an ACTFL LILL Cohort 5 member, she focuses on leadership development. Her research centers on technology integration and teacher effectiveness, reflecting her passion for supporting World Language teachers through impactful research and professional development initiatives. She is one of the founders of the organization. She is responsible for facilitating collaborations with other entities and organizations in and outside of Nebraska. She also provide professional learning experience and advising the board concerning PD events.
PD Coordinator - Ms. Fei Yu
Fei Yu is Assistant Professor of Chinese in the Department of Modern Languages at Bentley University. Previously, she held roles as a Visiting Assistant Professor and a Lecturer at Framingham State University, as well as a Visiting Lecturer at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Yu's expertise lies in language teaching, curriculum design, and program development. Her research focuses on student motivation in language learning, language immersion, teacher education, and discourse analysis. She is particularly interested in classroom-based research that addresses practical challenges in language education.
My name is Hunter Shen, and I am a lecture at University of Nebraska – Lincoln, teaching Chinese as a foreign language. I’ve always been a Chinese teacher since I graduated from college. I studied English and have a master’s degree in education. I also have a law degree, and I am a licensed attorney in Nebraska. I am a part-time teacher and a full-time lawyer now. I would love to continue to explore new teaching techniques with my legal background.
Ms. Yiju Ting
YIJU TING(Violet Ting) is a Chinese teacher in Scottsbluff high school. She graduated from Western Michigan university with a master’s degree in teaching Chinese as a second language. Mrs. Ting has experience in teaching from elementary school to adult school. She taught English and science for 5 years at the elementary school level and taught Chinese for 4 years at the high school level.
Mr. Xuan Song
My name is Xuan Song, Ph.D., and I am honored to serve as a Board Member of the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Nebraska. With extensive teaching experience in K-12 schools and higher education institutions in both the United States and China, I specialize in curriculum development, culturally responsive pedagogy, and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching Chinese as a foreign language. I hold a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Public Affairs from Cleveland State University, along with certifications in P-12 Chinese language instruction in Nebraska and Ohio. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing Chinese language education through teaching, research, and program development, as well as supporting the professional growth of Chinese language educators across our state.
Ms. Sicong Ma
Ma Laoshi (Mrs. Mills) has been dedicated to Chinese language education since 2012. She has taught Chinese at both the university and high school levels, gaining experience in diverse educational settings. Her background includes teaching in public schools as well as five years at a Catholic boys’ school. She is currently serving as a Chinese language instructor at a Catholic girls’ school in Omaha.
Ms. Chen Zhang
My name is Chen Zhang. I graduated from Iowa State University. I am currently teaching at Omaha Westview High School. I speak Chinese, Japanese, and English. I have a strong interest in traditional Chinese musical instruments. I believe in staying humble while working hard and making meaningful contributions to my community.
