THE MAIN EVENT
Wrapping Up Another 4-H Year!
Hello, Boulder County 4-H members and families!
The dust has settled from the fair, and we're wrapping up record book submissions. It's time to bid farewell to the past 4-H year with a bang! Get ready to celebrate at Achievement Night. It's your time to shine, and we can't wait to throw a well-deserved party in your honor. Let's come together to recognize your accomplishments and all those epic milestones you've conquered. Trust us, you won't want to miss this event!
On behalf of the entire Boulder County 4-H team, we invite you to join us at Achievement Night to celebrate your 4-H achievements. Let's make this an evening to remember and continue our journey of growth and success in the upcoming year.
Save the Date: Wednesday, October 18. Join us in recognizing your accomplishments and important milestones. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
But before we dive headfirst into the festivities, let's take a moment to show some love and appreciation. As the 4-H year comes to a close, make sure to send a heartfelt "thank you" to the amazing folks who have guided you along this incredible journey. Whether it's a colorful card, a small gift, a high-five, a bear hug, or an ear-to-ear smile, find the perfect way to express your gratitude. Our beloved club leaders, project leaders, fair superintendents, fair board members, fair office staff, and last but not least, your rockstar parents, have made the magic happen and made this year one for the books!
Remember, complete record books for animal projects are due to the Extension office by September 14. You have found the hidden message: please email Jeannie and make the subject line "I found the message" for a chance to win a cool prize. Don't forget your leader's signature to be eligible for shows and sales at the 2024 Boulder County Fair or Colorado State Fair.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you for making this year truly wonderful. The personal growth, friendships, and experiences you have gained in 4-H are invaluable, and it's all because of your enthusiasm and dedication to the program.
With gratitude,
Brenda, Faith, Lisa, and Jeannie

LIVESTOCK SUPERINTENDENT NEEDED
Livestock Superintendent Needed
We are looking for a volunteer to fill our vital 4-H Leader and livestock superintendent position this next year. It is essential the volunteer works well with people, has some knowledge of the species, is organized, and is willing to communicate with others. They are not required to be full experts of their species, so don’t let that limit the idea of you or someone you know in helping with the program.
We need the following positions:
Rabbit Superintendent
If you are interested in more information or know of someone who might consider volunteering, please contact Brenda at the 4-H Office or Melanie at the fair office. Applications open through September 15th.
DOG
DOG AVDISORY COUNCIL
Join us at the Boulder County 4-H Dog Advisory meeting on Wednesday, October 11th. We are planning an in-person meeting, however, we do have a backup Zoom link scheduled. Register in advance for the Zoom link:

For the best meeting experience, please attend in person.
The meeting is open to all dog members/families/leaders, as well as organizational leaders with kids in the dog project.
If you have specific meeting topics, ideas, or rule changes, please send them in writing ahead of time to Anne Janicki and Brenda Kwang.

We want you to be sure to thank your buyers and supporters, however, we need you to bring those notes by the extension office so we can check them off the list as completed.
Here is the process that will happen soon.

This email will be a listing of all buyers and add-on sponsors: names, business (if applicable), address
Exhibitor is to deliver all buyer and add-on Thank You notes to the Boulder County Extension Office in pre-addressed and stamped envelopes.
If you miss the September 14th deadline you will have $100 deducted from your check.
Upon receipt of your complete thank you listing, you will then be eligible to receive your check when the sale committee has collected money from the sponsors.
We hope this helps explain the process of thank you notes and checks!

LIVESTOCK
LIVESTOCK RECORD BOOKS
Just a reminder that complete 4-H Animal record books are due to the Extension Office before 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023. All members who exhibited at the Boulder County Fair are required to turn in a complete animal/livestock record book (for each project) before this deadline in order to be eligible to participate the following year in those 4-H projects. Here are a few details:
Members can decide if they turn in their record books to be checked for “completion only” or if they want to be considered for “judging”. But they must be one or the other!
The judging competition will be ranking their books among others in their category and have a great opportunity for some outstanding record book prizes awarded at the achievement night.
Completion-only record books will still be reviewed for completeness and must include all necessary information for EACH project area.
To be sure your record books are complete, check out the score sheets we will be using
Record books need to be in a sturdy secured folder (no three-ring binders). We have the 4-H Logo style ones for sale at the office for $4 each. They are not required to be in the official 4-H ones but do need to be in a smaller flat folder with hard covers where pages are secured by metal clasps.
Your Club leader may have an earlier deadline:
Check with your club leader.
Don’t assume they will come by to sign them before they are judged. (it is your responsibility)
Tell your leader JUDGED or COMPLETION ONLY.
Thank you all!

MESSAGE FROM THE FAIR BOARD
A huge THANK YOU from the Fair Board for a successful 2023 Boulder County Fair!! The fair would not happen without the hard work, time, and energy you all put in as Exhibitors. (And all of the parents and adults in the 4-H members' lives, we see you driving kids to check in with chickens in the back seat, carrying cakes into judging, holding cows and goats ringside, and supporting your 4-H youth at the fair in so many ways! We are extremely thankful for you, and the impact you had on this year’s fair.
~Melanie Bohren and the entire Fair Board
P.S. Premium checks are almost complete and will be mailed out to all exhibitors the first week of September.
