Creating Community

Session Objective: to value each other’s perspectives and agree upon shared principles for engagement with these issues

During this session, we will get to know each other and the course through inter-group introductions and a consensus-building exercise creating community guidelines for discussion.

All you need for this first synchronous Class Session is your Learning Log from Monday – be ready to introduce yourself when Becca plays your TikTok, song, or film clip! Remember that you received an email with a copy of your Learning Log answers, so you can pull that up and read from it if helpful.

  • Attend: our first synchronous class session, 8-9:20am Eastern on Wednesday 1 September 2021, via Zoom.

Painting: Acrylic, Watercolor, Ink, Pencil, Pastel on Canvas.
The Give and Take (Mixed Media on Canvas, 2017)

This painting is about the give and take you experience in relationships.

Jessica Matier explores humanitys relationship towards nature and society, the preordinance of existence versus free will, and the knowledge of wisdom. In trying to distill human and individual experience outside of gender, politics, and other temporal characteristics, Matiers work intends to provide a deeply personal and unique experience while simultaneously building a feeling of inclusivity to the human race.

  • Review: the Course Slides and Community Guidelines we created together based on your responses to Learning Log, Session 1.
