Systemic forms of oppression including colonialism, imperialism, and capitalism are intertwined with ableist ideologies and practices. Disability is often forgotten or an afterthought in environmental spaces, but it a crucial part of the story. This zine is meant to introduce the role of critical disability theory in climate and environmental justice, as well as concepts that allow us to better understand how systems of oppression both intentionally cause disability in oppressed populations and create ableist environments for those already disabled.
I encourage readers to take this information as a starting point, learn more on their own, and apply it to their daily lives by thinking about disability's place in your life, how you can make your communities and ideas for the future more accessible, and what you can do to fight capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism through doing what you can towards the struggles of the working class and those facing targeted debilitation.
Interested in ordering a physical copy of this zine? Here are the details for ordering:
As a form of payment, I ask for a donation of at least $10 (more is welcomed and encouraged!). Proceeds will be donated to The Sameer Project, a Palestinian aid fundraiser that helps people in Gaza who are facing targeted debilitation every single day, and have been for over a year of genocide and decades of settler colonial occupation. The Sameer Project provides tents, medication, food, and more to Palestinians and is a vital Palestinian-led aid group.
I encourage you to share their information to your communities and continue supporting them. A portion of the proceeds will be used to pay for shipping costs, so I ask that you send donations first to me on Venmo @ktoich063 and then fill out this Google form with shipping information.
Thank you so very much for your support!
