PRIVACY POLICY - COOKIE CLICKER MOD MENU & CHEATS
Last Updated: October 2026
1. INTRODUCTION & COMMITMENT
Cookie Clicker Mod Menu & Cheats ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension is designed as an offline, client-side utility tool for players of the web game Cookie Clicker (hosted at orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/).
We believe in radical transparency: the extension does NOT collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal data, analytics, browsing history, or identifiers.
2. DATA COLLECTION & PROCESSING
• No Personal Information Collected: The extension does not collect your name, email address, IP address, device details, or location.
• No Tracking or Analytics: We do not integrate Google Analytics, telemetry libraries, external tracking pixels, or third-party advertising networks.
• 100% Client-Side Operation: All modding actions, click simulations, and variable adjustments execute strictly inside your local browser instance while you play. Nothing is ever transmitted to any external server.
3. PERMISSION EXPLANATIONS & TRANSPARENCY
The extension requests only two minimal permissions in Manifest V3:
a) Host Permission: "*://orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/*"
• Purpose: This permission allows the extension's content script to inject the interactive mod menu, UI elements, and automation scripts directly into the game window when you visit the official Cookie Clicker game URL.
• Scope: This permission is strictly restricted to the official Cookie Clicker game URL. It cannot inspect, access, or modify any other web pages, search engines, or domains you visit.
b) "storage" API:
• Purpose: Allows the extension to save your personal preferences locally (such as your chosen interface language: English or Polish, your toggle switch states, and whether the menu is currently minimized).
• Scope: All saved settings are stored entirely on your local machine using the browser's local storage engine.
4. ARE ALL THESE PERMISSIONS DEFINITELY NEEDED?
YES, and here is why each one is strictly necessary and why broad permissions were avoided:
• Is the Host Permission necessary?
Yes. Without host permission specifically for "orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/*", Chrome would block the extension from displaying the mod menu on the game canvas. Because this permission is narrowly targeted to only the Cookie Clicker URL, it possesses zero access to any other website you browse. Broad permissions like "<all_urls>" or "*://*/*" were deliberately NOT requested.
• Is the Storage Permission necessary?
Yes, for user convenience. It ensures that your mod configurations (e.g. language preference and UI position) remain remembered between browser sessions. Without it, you would have to re-configure your preferences every time you reload the page.
• What permissions were deliberately EXCLUDED to protect you?
To guarantee maximum security and adhere to the Principle of Least Privilege:
- NO "<all_urls>" or broad host permissions.
- NO "tabs" permission (we do not read your open tabs or browsing history).
- NO "cookies" permission (we do not access session cookies or login credentials).
- NO "webRequest" permission (we do not monitor or intercept your internet traffic).
- NO "identity" permission (we do not require or access Google account details).
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The extension operates independently and does not communicate with any third-party APIs, remote servers, or external databases.
6. USER RIGHTS AND CONTROL
You remain in full control of the extension at all times:
• You can disable or remove the extension at any time via Chrome's extensions manager (`chrome://extensions`).
• Removing the extension immediately revokes all permissions and removes all locally stored preferences.
7. CONTACT & INQUIRIES
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this privacy policy or the extension's operation, please review the open-source code repository or reach out via the official Chrome Web Store support tab.
