If you want precise audio control and conversation clarity while commuting, choose Clicar Ear Plugs; if you need maximum noise suppression for deep sleep or loud industrial environments, choose Avoxins Ear Plugs.
• Clicar Ear Plugs: Best strength is the three-mode dial (Quiet, Engage, Experience) that lets you switch from silence to conversation instantly; biggest trade-off is slightly lower noise reduction (30dB max) compared to high-decibel blockers.
• Avoxins Ear Plugs: Best strength is superior passive isolation reducing noise by 33-45dB with a twist-lock fit; biggest trade-off is the lack of active modes, meaning you cannot easily hear voices without removing them.
• The Verdict: Choose Clicar for commuters who need to stay aware of announcements, or Avoxins for travelers needing total immersion in quiet.
The Clicar Ear Plugs are engineered for a specific type of user: someone who needs to manage their auditory environment dynamically rather than just shut it out completely. The standout feature here is the Switch 2 Adjustable mechanism. This isn't just a plug; it is a piece of wearable technology that allows you to physically rotate an in-ear dial to toggle between three distinct relief modes. You can drop into "Quiet Mode" for a peaceful commute where background chatter fades, but then instantly shift to "Engage Mode" to have a clear conversation with a travel companion or listen to an airport announcement without fumbling to remove the device.
This versatility makes these earbuds particularly compelling for the modern commuter. If your daily journey involves navigating busy subway stations, crowded buses, or noisy train cars where you might need to hear a conductor's voice or ask a fellow passenger for directions, Clicar offers a solution that disposable foam plugs simply cannot match. The design prioritizes adaptability. You get four pairs of ultra-soft silicone tips in sizes XS, S, M, and L, ensuring a custom ergonomic seal whether you are wearing them as a child, an elderly person, or an adult. The material is skin-friendly and washable, designed for long-term reuse without the irritation often associated with stiff plastics.
However, this product is not for everyone. If your primary goal is to block out a jackhammer, a screaming infant, or the roar of an airplane engine with absolute ferocity, the Clicar system has a ceiling. The data indicates it reduces noise to within 30 decibels. While 30dB creates a serene bubble suitable for sleeping or focusing, it does not offer the total vacuum-like isolation that a heavy-duty acoustic blocker provides. Furthermore, the reliance on a mechanical switch means there is a learning curve to getting the seal right in each mode. If you prefer a "set it and forget it" solution where you never have to think about settings once they are in your ears, the Clicar's interactive nature might feel like unnecessary complexity.
Ultimately, the Clicar Ear Plugs are for the traveler who values connection alongside quiet. They are ideal for those who find standard earplugs too isolating, preventing them from enjoying music details in "Experience Mode" or speaking naturally in "Engage Mode." They are also a great choice for side sleepers, given the soft silicone construction that molds to the canal without causing pressure points. But if you are looking for the highest possible decibel reduction to guarantee sleep regardless of external chaos, you might find the 30dB limit insufficient for your specific needs.

The Avoxins Ear Plugs take a fundamentally different approach, prioritizing raw acoustic performance over adjustable features. These are built for users who demand maximum hearing protection and total silence. The core specification here is a powerful noise reduction rating of 33-45 dB. This range places them significantly higher on the spectrum of isolation compared to the Clicar option. When you insert these, you are creating a much deeper barrier against disruptive sounds. Whether it is the low-frequency hum of a plane engine, the sharp crack of power tools, or the relentless snoring of a partner, the Avoxins design is engineered to soften these noises more aggressively.
For the commuter facing extreme noise levels, such as high-speed rail lines or chaotic urban construction zones, the Avoxins offer a sanctuary. The design features a twist-lock mechanism that molds securely into the ear canal, providing a stable fit that resists falling out even during vigorous movement. This is crucial for anyone using them for gaming headphones for commuting scenarios where immersion is key, or for focus-demanding settings like open offices and libraries where silence is non-negotiable. The inclusion of nine ear tips across four sizes (including a unique double-layer pair) suggests a commitment to finding a perfect seal, which is the single most important factor in achieving high noise reduction ratings.
These earplugs also shine for their frequency-filtering technology. They are designed to block harmful low-frequency noise while allowing mid-to-high frequencies—like alarms, voices, and music details—to remain audible. This balance protects hearing health without leaving you completely deafened. The material is premium silicone, described as ultra-soft and flexible, making them comfortable for all-day wear. Unlike some rigid alternatives, they ease pressure and prevent discomfort, even for side sleepers who spend hours pressing their face into a pillow. The package includes eight pairs of tips plus one double-layer pair, offering more variety than many competitors.
That said, the Avoxins come with a significant trade-off: rigidity in function. There is no dial to switch modes. Once you put them in, you are in "Quiet Mode" full stop. You cannot easily engage in a conversation without taking them out. This makes them less ideal for the spontaneous social interactions common in public transit or travel hubs. If you need to hear a gate change announcement or talk to a seatmate, these require removal. Additionally, while the silicone is soft, the focus on maximum isolation means the seal must be tight, which some users might find initially restrictive compared to looser-fitting alternatives. They are best suited for those who prioritize the quality of their rest or work environment above the convenience of temporary awareness.
• Best for Variable Noise Levels → Clicar Ear Plugs: The three-mode switch allows you to adapt instantly from a noisy concert to a quiet conversation without removing the earbud.
• Best for Maximum Silence → Avoxins Ear Plugs: With a 33-45dB reduction range, these provide superior isolation for sleeping in loud apartments or flying on engines.
• Best for Commuters Needing Awareness → Clicar Ear Plugs: The ability to hear voices and alarms in "Engage Mode" is vital for navigating busy transit systems safely.
• Best for Industrial/Construction Work → Avoxins Ear Plugs: The higher decibel reduction and secure twist-lock fit make them safer for high-decibel environments like workshops.
• Best for Hearing Health Balance → Avoxins Ear Plugs: Their specific frequency filtering blocks harmful lows while preserving essential mid/high tones like alarms.
• Best for Custom Fit Variety → Avoxins Ear Plugs: Includes 9 pairs of tips (including a double-layer option) versus Clicar's 4 pairs, offering more size options.
• Best for Side Sleepers → Both: Both utilize soft silicone, but Avoxins' tighter seal may hold better for those who toss and turn.
• Best for Portability → Tie: Both come with compact cases, though Clicar includes a lanyard for easy access.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally choose the Clicar Ear Plugs for my daily life, specifically for commuting. The ability to switch between modes is a game-changer when you are constantly moving through different acoustic environments. Being able to hear an announcement on the subway without taking the plug out saves time and reduces anxiety. However, if your primary struggle is severe snoring or a very loud roommate, I would switch to the Avoxins for their superior isolation power. For me, the flexibility of Clicar outweighs the extra 15dB of silence provided by Avoxins in a typical travel scenario.
No, both Clicar and Avoxins are passive devices made of silicone and do not contain batteries or USB-C charging ports. They rely on physical design and materials to reduce noise.
Yes, their 33-45dB noise reduction capability is specifically noted for softening disruptive sounds like snoring, airplane engines, and construction noise effectively.
While the description mentions them as versatile for swimming, they are primarily designed as noise-reducing earplugs for sleep and concerts. Ensure they are fully inserted for water resistance, but they are not specialized waterproof gear.
For gaming headphones for commuting or immersive gaming sessions where you want to block out the world, the Avoxins offer better isolation. However, if you play multiplayer games requiring communication, the Clicar "Engage Mode" might be useful.
