I'd say so, at least for some time. I'd make the outline of the AFC logo a bit thicker, so there's no green within the logo. The Browns also like to outline the numbers, and the 20 and 50 yard lines in brown towards the end of the year, which is always a nice touch.

That stupid angle at the end of the vertical terminators? And the corresponding angle on the turns of the middle horizontals? WFT? Makes the numbers look like they were improperly sewn on. As usual, a simple traditional block would be, by far, the best choice for a team like the browns.

I just dont get why they did this. Nike created a custom font for the new word mark. It wasn't a true block font, but was simple with very minor character and actually looked super clean and strong. Then they decided to add a rise shadow and pointed serifs randomly... based on nothing.

A template of a helmet that's been banned by the NFL is just plain dumb. I've refused to buy any Browns gear with the helmet on it since 1999 and I'm not the only fan that feels this way. Have to think their apparel sales would spike if they made a change. I'm shocked the NFL and/or Nike didn't force them to do something.

There are a few reasons for that template fro the helmets. First off, it's a classic football helmet look. It's what helmets "should" look like, but can't anymore because of the safety regulations. But also, these new helmets are highly branded. Much like Nike designs proprietary uniform templates in part to promote Nike, helmet manufacturers come up with the designs to be unique and instantly identifiable. Kids watching want to wear helmet X because they see it's what JJ Watt wears. Youth coaches might buy helmet Y because he sees Mahomes wearing it. One of these manufacturers could easily make a helmet which looked closer to the logo template, but then they're not instantly recognizable to the brand. Regardless, it makes more sense to me to use a classic template of what a helmet should look like, rather than a dated current helmet template which maybe 1/4 of the players wear, which would have to be changed in a few years as helmets advance and that particular helmet is no longer around. But yes, get a damn primary logo.

Can't say enough about how horrible this recent Nike trend of slightly modified blockish numbers is. More than looking improperly sewn on, they look like numbers you see on the worst counterfeit jerseys. You have some counterfeits that try to replicate the font, and then you have some that look like someone applied masking tape to a t-shirt to make numbers for intramural basketball. These look like the latter.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- As the NFL has loosened its rules on restrictive uniform policies with expanded uniform numbers, they have also allowed their teams to go with alternate helmets for the first time in quite a while.

Per the NFL's website: "The NFL sent a memo to clubs Thursday announcing that it will allow teams to wear two different helmets beginning in the 2022 season, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The NFL previously permitted teams only one set of helmets for safety reasons. The thought processes followed that it was safer for a player to be fitted with one helmet properly than to be shifting in-and-out of different headgear that it couldn't be certain was as safe.

The revised policy allows teams to utilize a second (alternate color) approved helmet to pair with their Alternate, Classic and/or Color Rush uniforms. All uses of alternate helmets must follow the set forth parameters:

Teams must inform the league office of their intent to use an alternate helmet in 2022 by no later than July 31, 2021. So, we'll know this year which teams plan to utilize throwback/alternate helmets in 2022.

While this opens the door for nostalgic uniforms like the Bills red helmet, Titans (Oilers), and creamsicle Buccaneers, the Browns' options will obviously be limited due to the strict uniform style they have used since their inception.

The Browns wore a plain white leather helmet from 1946 to 1951. They played in the All-American Football Conference before the leagues joined forces and began play wearing white helmets, brown and white jerseys, and white pants. They looked remarkably similar to the current uniform with the basic nature of the number font which did have a three-dimensional effect. On the brown jerseys, they had orange with a white shadow, and on orange jerseys, the numbers were browns with orange around for the standout effect. The white helmet was supplanted by classic orange in 1950 as the two shared duties and by 1952 the orange was the full-time replacement.

The white facemask technically started in 1975 and ran through 1995 before the departure to Baltimore. They wore it upon their return in 1999 and kept them through the 2005 season. This is yet another simple tweak to the helmet that could bring the nostalgia back for Browns fans and fit a throwback uniform type for the team if perhaps they want to bring back the orange top uniforms with a modern spin.

"NFL teams can begin wearing throwback uniforms again starting in 2022, but one franchise already has put the kibosh on the return of a popular throwback jersey -- all thanks to the league's version of "fine print."

The Philadelphia Eagles have submitted to the league their uniform selection for 2022 (per Rob Tornoe of Inquirer.com), as the NFL had a deadline for next year's uniform attire that passed prior to the league approving the use of an alternative helmet last week. Philadelphia will wear its black alternate jersey the franchise debuted in 2003 (and has used every year except 2007, 2010, and 2011 seasons).

Many teams will face a similar issue like the Eagles in the coming weeks since they didn't have enough ample time to submit to the league a throwback uniform knowing the NFL was going to approve the use of an alternate helmet as soon as next year. If a team wasn't already planning to wear a throwback, it won't be able to add one at this point."

So, perhaps we have to wait another year if they do want the white helmet look, but if the look for the Browns is as simple as adding numbers to the side of helmets they have a real shot to roll them out in 2022. 152ee80cbc
