If you want a pair of true wireless earbuds designed for active movement and low-latency gaming, choose Cleer ARC II Gaming; if you need a stationary transmitter to stream TV audio to headphones or soundbars, choose Avantree Oasis Plus 2.
These two devices occupy completely different spaces in the audio ecosystem, yet they often appear together in searches because both utilize Bluetooth 5.3 and aptX technology. The Cleer unit is a wearable headphone built for your ears, while the Avantree unit is a hardware bridge that sits on your entertainment center. One is meant to be worn during a run or a raid; the other is meant to solve a connectivity problem for a home theater setup. Understanding this fundamental difference is the only way to avoid buying the wrong tool for your needs.
• Cleer ARC II Gaming: Its biggest strength is the ultra-low latency under 67ms combined with an open-ear design perfect for situational awareness during exercise; its trade-off is that it requires a separate dongle for PS4/PS5 compatibility and lacks noise cancellation. This pick is for gamers and athletes who need to hear their surroundings while playing.
• Avantree Oasis Plus 2: Its biggest strength is its ability to extract audio from HDMI-only TVs and boost optical volume by up to 6dB to eliminate silence issues; its trade-off is that it is not a pair of headphones but a standalone transmitter requiring compatible gear. This pick is for homeowners with older TVs or specific HDMI setups who want to watch without disturbing others.
The Cleer ARC II Gaming is engineered for people who refuse to sacrifice immersion for safety or comfort. As someone who values freedom of movement, I find the open-ear design particularly compelling for anyone looking for bluetooth earbuds for exercise. Unlike traditional in-ear models that seal off the world, these sit outside the ear canal, allowing ambient sound to pass through naturally. This makes them ideal for outdoor runners or cyclists who need to hear traffic, or gym-goers who prefer to stay aware of their environment while lifting weights.
The core appeal here lies in the Snapdragon Sound architecture with aptX Lossless technology. For a gamer, this isn't just about clear music; it is about timing. The device promises an ultra-low latency of under 67ms, which is critical for synchronizing audio with video. When you are navigating a complex level in a VR game or reacting to footsteps in a competitive shooter, milliseconds matter. The inclusion of a USB-C dongle ensures that this synchronization works seamlessly with consoles like the PlayStation 4 and PC, though it is important to note that the product data explicitly states it is not compatible with PS5 native output, meaning the dongle remains a necessity for those specific platforms.
Battery life is another area where this device stands out for long-duration sessions. With a total playtime of up to 35 hours, including the charging case, you can go days between charges. The earbuds themselves offer 8 hours of continuous playback, which is sufficient for most training sessions or workdays. The IPX5 sweat resistance rating further cements its place as a robust piece of sports gear. If you are searching for sweat resistant ear clip headphones for exercise, the combination of the adjustable soft ear hooks and the secure fit means they will stay put even when you are pushing hard, without the pressure points common with in-ear models.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you require deep isolation from the outside world, such as on a noisy airplane or in a loud office, the open-ear design will fail you. You cannot expect passive noise cancellation here. Additionally, the reliance on a dongle for console gaming adds a small amount of clutter to your setup compared to standard wireless controllers. But for the specific use case of staying connected to your game and your environment simultaneously, it is a superior choice.
The Avantree Oasis Plus 2 serves a very different purpose: it is a solution for modern television connectivity problems. Many new TVs have moved away from Optical (TOSLINK) and 3.5mm AUX ports, keeping only HDMI ARC. This creates a nightmare for audiophiles who want to use high-quality Bluetooth headphones or legacy speakers. The Oasis Plus 2 bridges this gap by extracting audio directly from the HDMI ARC signal and converting it into formats that older equipment can understand.
Its standout feature is the ability to handle HDMI-only inputs while still supporting simultaneous output. You can set the "Bypass ON" mode to send audio to both a soundbar and your Bluetooth headphones at the same time, or switch to "Bypass OFF" to mute the TV speakers entirely and route everything wirelessly. This flexibility is rare in transmitters of this class. Furthermore, the volume boosting capability addresses a common frustration with optical connections, where users often find the signal too weak to reach comfortable listening levels. By boosting the volume by up to 6dB, the Oasis Plus 2 ensures that dialogue is crisp and clear, even without a dedicated amplifier.
This device is also built for range. With a transmission distance of up to 164 feet (50 meters), you can walk to the kitchen or even step outside onto the porch while your movie continues to play through your paired headphones. The support for aptX-Adaptive ensures that the audio quality remains high, syncing perfectly with any compatible receiver. It is a robust tool for the home theater enthusiast who has hit a wall with their current TV's limited port selection.
That said, this is not a consumer-grade audio product you wear on your head. It is a fixed installation device. If you are looking for a portable solution to listen to music on the go, this unit will do nothing for you. It requires a power source and a direct connection to your TV. It is strictly a home entertainment accessory. If your TV already has an Optical or 3.5mm port, you might not need this bundle, but for the many households stuck with HDMI-only outputs, it is an essential piece of infrastructure.

In my opinion, the Cleer ARC II Gaming is the more versatile product for the average buyer because it addresses personal audio needs that the Avantree simply cannot touch. While the Avantree is a fantastic niche tool for fixing TV audio issues, the Cleer unit is a complete lifestyle upgrade for anyone who wants to exercise safely or game competitively. Specifically for exercise, the Cleer ARC II Gaming is the clear winner due to its sweat resistance and situational awareness features. If you are torn between the two based on a search query, ask yourself if you need to wear something on your body or fix a cable on your TV. If it is the former, the Cleer is the one to buy.
The Cleer ARC II Gaming carries an IPX5 sweat resistance rating, which protects against water jets and heavy sweat, making them suitable for intense workouts and light rain, though they are not fully waterproof for submersion.
No, the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 is designed specifically for TV audio extraction via HDMI ARC, Optical, or RCA inputs and does not function as a wireless adapter for game consoles like PlayStation or Xbox.
No, the Cleer ARC II Gaming utilizes an open-ear design that does not block external sound; it relies on bone conduction principles and transparency rather than active noise cancellation technology.
Many modern TVs lack native Bluetooth audio output for third-party headphones, and the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 acts as a dedicated transmitter to enable wireless audio streaming from HDMI-only ports that otherwise cannot connect to headphones.
