This Privacy Policy explains how ClearOrbit (Android package: com.clearorbit.mobile) accesses, uses, and stores information when you use the app. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of ClearOrbit. For privacy questions or requests, contact jonathoncoonhj53@gmail.com.
1. Overview
ClearOrbit is an Android app for organizing photos and videos, compressing video copies, reviewing contacts, identifying infrequently used apps, and storing selected files in a private space.
The app's core features process information on your device. ClearOrbit does not require an account and does not upload your media, contacts, app usage information, or private-space files to servers operated by us. The current app does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or automatic crash-reporting services. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Local processing still involves access to personal information. The sections below describe that access and the choices available to you.
2. Information accessed and how it is used
Photos, videos, and selected files
With the access you grant, ClearOrbit may read photos and videos, create thumbnails, and process associated information such as file identifiers, names, sizes, dates, dimensions, and media types. It may compute file fingerprints and visual similarity information to group duplicate or similar photos and organize media into review categories.
This information is used to display scan results, support photo review and swiping, manage requested media actions, and create compressed video copies. Access is limited by Android permissions and the files made available to the app. ClearOrbit does not automatically delete media based on scan results. Media changes require an explicit user action and, where required, Android's system confirmation. Video compression creates a separate output and retains the original video.
Contacts
If you use contact tools and grant permission, ClearOrbit accesses contact information, including names, phone numbers, email addresses, and associated contact identifiers. It uses this information to display contacts, identify possible duplicates or incomplete entries, export supported information to a VCF file, and perform merges you explicitly confirm.
Contact reading and writing use separate permission checks. Contact merging changes the device's contact records and requires confirmation. A VCF export is not a complete backup of every contact field, account, or service-specific setting.
ClearOrbit does not send contacts to us. Changes to contacts linked to an account may be synchronized by Android or the account provider under that provider's settings and privacy policy.
Installed apps and usage information
If you authorize Usage Access, ClearOrbit accesses the app information Android makes visible to it, such as app names, package names, installation information, installation-package sizes, and available usage timestamps. This information is used to display and sort the infrequently used app list. Unavailable usage information does not mean an app has never been used, and installation-package size is not the app's total storage usage.
ClearOrbit does not upload this list or usage information to us. Uninstall requests are handled through Android and require your confirmation.
Private space and authentication
If you use private space, ClearOrbit processes files you select and stores encrypted copies in app-private storage. It also stores local file metadata, such as names, media types, sizes, and dates, to manage those files when the space is unlocked. Encryption uses Android Keystore-backed keys. PIN verification information is stored locally in encrypted form.
Where supported, authentication may use Android's system authentication interface. ClearOrbit receives an authentication result; it does not receive or store fingerprint images, facial images, or biometric templates.
Private-space content is not uploaded to us. Access to the space is locked when the app goes into the background. Importing a copy into private space does not, by itself, remove the original from its previous location. We cannot recover your device-bound encryption keys or guarantee recovery of private files after you lose access, clear app data, uninstall the app, or lose the device.
Settings, storage information, and local records
ClearOrbit reads device storage totals to display storage information. It stores settings and operational records locally, including language preferences, reminder settings, completed guide status, activity history, contact-export records, and media-action records used for Trash and pending-action handling. These records may contain file names, identifiers, sizes, dates, and action status. Temporary data and caches may also be used to support previews and processing.
If you enable reminders, ClearOrbit uses notification permission and Android scheduling to deliver local reminders. It may receive a device-restart event to restore scheduled reminders. This does not send a notification history to us.
Information you send to support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments or other information you choose to provide. We use this information to respond to your request, investigate the issue you report, and maintain necessary support records. Please do not send passwords, PINs, or sensitive files unless they are genuinely needed for your request.
Support email is handled through email providers, including Gmail for the contact address above. Those providers process messages under their own policies.
3. Permissions and your choices
Depending on your Android version and the features you use, ClearOrbit may request:
Photo and video access, including selected-media access where Android supports it, to scan and organize accessible media.
Storage read access on older Android versions, to access photos and videos.
Contacts read access, to review contacts and export supported contact information.
Contacts write access, for contact changes you explicitly confirm.
Usage Access, enabled through Android settings, to review available app usage information.
Notification access, for optional reminders.
System authentication or biometric access, to protect private-space access where supported.
Android file pickers are used for certain file-selection and save operations. You can decline optional permissions or revoke them in Android settings. Features that depend on that access may then be unavailable. Revoking a permission does not undo actions you already confirmed or automatically delete files or records already stored.
4. Sharing and external services
We do not sell or rent your personal information. ClearOrbit does not transmit the locally processed information described above to us for advertising or analytics.
Information may leave the app when you choose an external destination or action. For example:
Sharing a compressed video sends the selected output to the app or recipient you choose.
Opening a file makes it available to the chosen compatible app.
Saving a contact export or another file to a cloud-backed location may cause the selected storage provider to upload it.
Contact-account synchronization may transmit contact changes through the account provider.
Sending a support email transmits the information you include through email services.
The services and apps you choose handle that information under their own privacy policies. Files saved outside ClearOrbit's private storage may also be accessible to other apps according to Android permissions and your device settings.
If you contact us, we may disclose the information we hold from that communication when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to address security, fraud, or legal claims. We cannot disclose your device-only files or contact lists when we do not hold them.
5. Storage, retention, and deletion
Scan results and feature data may be held in memory or stored locally for the feature concerned. Settings, histories, export records, media-action records, caches, and private-space files remain on the device until removed by an available app action, cleared by Android, replaced during normal operation, or removed with app data.
You can manage permissions in Android settings, delete files using the appropriate app or system tools, and remove ClearOrbit's app-private data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling can permanently remove private-space files and the keys needed to access them. Do not use these actions as a recovery method.
Compressed videos, exported VCF files, shared copies, and other files saved outside app-private storage may remain after uninstallation. You must delete those copies separately from their saved locations. Clearing ClearOrbit's data does not restore media already deleted, undo contact merges, or change the system's own Trash retention rules.
The app is configured to exclude its private data from Android automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup. Device behavior may vary. Copies saved to shared storage, account services, or destinations you select are outside those app-private backup exclusions.
We retain support communications only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, follow up, and satisfy applicable legal or security requirements. You can request deletion of support information by emailing us, subject to those requirements.
6. Security
ClearOrbit uses Android's app storage protections and Keystore-backed encryption for private-space content and locally stored PIN verification information. These protections do not mean every setting, history item, exported file, or shared copy is encrypted by ClearOrbit.
No security measure is absolute. Protect your device and credentials, review files before sharing them, and use caution when storing sensitive content. Copies you export, share, or retain outside private space are not protected by private-space encryption.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact jonathoncoonhj53@gmail.com to make a request concerning information we hold, such as support communications.
We may need information to verify a request. We cannot remotely access, recover, or delete data that exists only on your device. You can manage that data through the app, Android settings, and the relevant storage or account provider. Where applicable, you may also raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
8. Children's privacy
ClearOrbit is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through support communications. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required by applicable law. The policy should be reviewed alongside the features and permissions of the version you install.
