CleanRoll Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CleanRoll handles information when you use
the CleanRoll Android application. CleanRoll is a photo and video cleanup app
that helps you identify duplicate photos, similar photos, screenshots, and
large videos, and lets you manage cleanup actions directly on your device.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to CleanRoll, the Android app made available
through Anthropic Play by the developer identified on the app's store listing
for CleanRoll. It describes how CleanRoll handles information through the app
itself. If you interact with third-party services outside the app, such as
your email provider, mobile carrier, browser, Anthropic Play, or your device
manufacturer, their own terms and privacy policies also apply.
2. Information We Access and Process
Media library information on your device
If you grant media access permission, CleanRoll reads photos and videos
available through Android media APIs so it can scan your library and present
cleanup suggestions. Depending on Android version and the files on your
device, this may include:
• Photos and videos stored on your device and made available through Android
MediaStore.
• Media metadata such as file name, relative path, file size, MIME type,
width, height, duration, and add or modify timestamps.
• Android trash status information for supported Android versions when showing
items that are already in the system trash.
Locally generated processing data
CleanRoll may create temporary local processing data on your device, such as
hashes used to identify duplicates or similar items, scan results displayed in
the app, temporary local caches needed for app operation, and temporary
compressed video files stored in app cache before you decide whether to save,
replace, or discard them.
Support communications
If you contact us by email, we may receive the information you choose to
include in that message, such as your email address, message content, and any
attachments you send.
CleanRoll is designed so that your photos and videos are not uploaded to
CleanRoll servers for core scanning, grouping, trash, restore, or compression
functions in the current app version.
3. How We Use Information
We use information processed by the app to provide the features you request,
including to:
• Scan your device library to identify duplicate photos, visually similar
photos, screenshots, and large videos.
• Estimate storage use and the amount of space that may be reclaimed.
• Show scan results, preview items, and help you decide what to keep, trash,
restore, compress, or delete.
• Perform user-requested actions such as moving items to Android system trash
where supported, restoring items from trash where supported, deleting items,
and saving compressed videos.
• Open policy pages or your email app when you choose to access help,
feedback, privacy, or terms links.
• Respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, and protect the
app against misuse.
4. Permissions, Security, and Device Access
CleanRoll currently relies on Android media permissions so it can review
photos and videos in your library and perform cleanup actions that you
authorize. If you deny or revoke media access, the app may not be able to scan
your library or show full results. Some delete or restore actions may also
trigger Android system confirmation dialogs before the action is completed. On
some Android versions or device configurations, certain delete actions may
remove files immediately instead of using Android system trash.
CleanRoll does not currently require account credentials to scan your library.
The current app version is also not designed to use advertising identifiers,
in-app behavioral advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics or
crash-reporting SDKs for its core media cleanup features.
CleanRoll is not designed to collect your device GPS location or use location
services as part of its current core media cleanup features.
Core scanning and grouping are designed to run locally on your device. Access
to your media library is gated by Android permissions, and destructive actions
such as trashing, restoring, or permanently deleting files may also require
Android system confirmation dialogs. Temporary local working files, such as
compressed video outputs or cached processing data, may remain in app storage
until you save them, discard them, clear app data, uninstall the app, or
Android removes cache data according to system behavior. Compressed outputs
may differ from the original file in quality, compatibility, metadata, or
other media characteristics.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your photos, videos, or other personal information.
We do not currently share your media with third-party advertising or analytics
providers through the app itself.
We may disclose limited information in the following situations:
• If disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid
governmental request.
• If disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms, prevent fraud,
address security issues, or protect rights, property, or safety.
• If you choose to contact support or open an external link, the relevant
browser, email app, or service provider will process that interaction under
its own policies.
• As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of some or all of
the CleanRoll business, subject to applicable law.
6. Data Retention
• Your original photos and videos remain on your device unless you choose to
move them to trash, replace them, or delete them.
• Scan results are generated for in-app use and are not stored on CleanRoll
servers in the current app version.
• Temporary compressed video files and app caches may remain in local app
storage until you save, discard, reset the compression flow, remove the app,
clear app storage, or the operating system clears cache data.
• Items moved to Android system trash are handled by Android and may be
removed automatically according to device or Android system behavior, which is
typically around 30 days but may vary.
• On Android versions or device states where a trash flow is unavailable for
the requested action, deleting media may permanently remove it immediately
instead of keeping it in a recoverable trash state.
• Your device or Anthropic account backup settings may back up certain app
data outside CleanRoll servers and outside our direct control, subject to
Android and your device provider settings.
• Support emails and related records may be retained for as long as reasonably
needed to respond, troubleshoot, comply with law, or resolve disputes.
7. Your Choices and Controls
• You can decide whether to grant media access permissions and can revoke them
later in Android settings.
• You control whether suggested items are left untouched, moved to trash,
restored, permanently deleted, or compressed, subject to Android version and
system behavior.
• You can manage compressed output files on your device using Android system
tools or other apps with appropriate access.
• You can stop using CleanRoll at any time and uninstall the app.
Because the app is designed for local media management, many privacy choices
are exercised directly on your device rather than through an online account
portal.
8. Children's Privacy
CleanRoll is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in
the user's jurisdiction, and is not intended to encourage unsupervised access
to private device libraries by children. If you believe a child has provided
us personal information through support communications inappropriately,
contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address the request.
9. Regional Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable law to
request access to, deletion of, or information about personal information that
we control. Because CleanRoll's core media processing is designed to stay on
your device and not on CleanRoll servers, many requests relating to your
photos and videos can be handled directly on your device by managing files,
app permissions, app data, or support communications.
If you want to make a privacy request or ask a privacy question, email
support@cleanroll.app. We can respond to requests relating to support
communications and other information we control, and we can explain the app's
local-only behavior.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product
changes, legal requirements, or improved explanations. When we do, we will
update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes take
effect when the updated policy is posted, unless a different date is stated.
11. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, want to make a privacy
request, or want to contact us about privacy matters, email
support@cleanroll.app.
