Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Twice-Exceptional students Achieving and Matriculating in STEM
CLD TEAMS stands for (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Twice-Exceptional students Achieving and Matriculating in STEM) and is an educational research program run by the faculty and staff at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and educators and professionals from the CNMI Public School System and organizations in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and American Samoa. Our goal is to help high school students explore their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields and support them in entering STEM pathways after high school.

Class sessions will be held at the Northern Marianas College
Saturdays 9am-12pm (12pm-2pm Familia Sessions)
Student sessions are 2 Saturdays a month.
Familia sessions are familia engagement activities for parents and students that is 1 Saturday a month.

Eligibility and Requirements
Enrolled as a SY 25-26 Saipan high school student (Public or Private).
Attend two classes/month.
Complete the year-long program.
Work summer internship position.
All incoming high school students are welcome to apply including students who are Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Filipino or students from any ethnic background with learning differences, learning assistance needs, and/or disabil(ites).
Cost to participate - All students will be sponsored by a U.S. Department of Education program grant (Award #S362A230008). Thanks to this grant, our program will be offered for FREE to all students!

COHORT 1 Kick-Off Day Orientation at Pacific Islands Club Saipan, September 14, 2024
Our students headed out to sail with 500 Sails at the Guma Sakman in Susupe, Saipan CNMI
Students shredding plastic bottle caps with MINA's shredding/molding machine
Students taking turns removing the melted plastic molds from casings
Finished product which recycles the plastic into latte stone pendants and gecko keychains!
Thank you MINA (Mariana Islands Nature Alliance) for a wonderful demonstration and the continuing efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics in our islands!
Northern Marianas College Campus Tour
Students familiarize themselves with the campus offices and the types of services available to them when the make that transition into college
Students take turns giving out free blood pressure checks to our community at the Sabalu Market
Students created posters about ways to maintain a health heart as part of their lesson regarding heart health
CLD TEAMS blood pressure community outreach on November 16, 2024 at the Sabalu Market, Marianas Business Plaza, Saipan.
Students learn the mathematics behind building and sailing traditional canoes and used the measurments to created a 3D model of it
Students picking up plastics in recycling bins from places around the island and turning them into reusable materials
Students taking part in numerous jobs rotating positions around the Atkins Kroll car dealership from sales, aftermarket sales, customer service, parts and maintenances service, to office and administrative work.
