Clayton Becker, PhD Candidate UCLA
I am a PhD Student in the UCLA Department of Political Science. My research focuses on local and urban politics generally, and particularly on the politics of housing. Using observational, survey, and field experimental approaches, my research investigates both the upstream reasons why voters often oppose new housing developments near them, especially racial motivations, as well as the downstream effects of limited housing affordability and residential instability, from attitudes to voting behavior.Â
I also have research interests in methods and survey design, as well as a collaborative research agenda on prejudice and prejudice reduction.
