As teachers, we were taught that in order for a child or young adult to learn we have to make sure that the "whole child's" needs are met. There are five parts of the whole child there are as follows:
Physical-everything that has to do with the body
Cognitive- is the student's thinking process (problem-solving and abstract thinking,)
Emotional- knowing the names of feelings and accepting one's own feelings
Social- ability to converse and act appropriately with others
Linguistic- ability to speak coherently
We have to make sure that all five of those are met before we can feed the students' hunger for knowledge.
