United States University (USU) traces its roots back to 1997 when it was established as InterAmerican College (IAC) in National City, California. From its inception, USU has been dedicated to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The university was founded with the mission of expanding educational access for underrepresented groups, including working adults, Latinx communities, first-generation college students, and immigrants, with a focus on enhancing bilingual skills in nursing, healthcare, and education within Southern California. In 2009, IAC received initial accreditation from WSCUC, which also approved its transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit institution—a change officially completed in 2010, alongside its renaming to United States University. Today, USU educates over 2,000 students, the majority of whom are first-generation college graduates, with 65% identifying as Asian American (predominantly Filipinx), African American, or Hispanic.
United States University offers educational opportunities designed to support both professional and personal growth, with a strong focus on reaching underserved communities. Through a combination of campus-based and online programs, the university provides affordable, accessible, and practical undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as certificate programs, all within a nurturing, student-focused environment.
