The Pearl

The Pearl by John Steinbeck

This short novella follows Kino and Juana, a couple living in a modest brush house by the sea in La Paz, Mexico. Kino comes upon a large pearl, and they don’t know it at the time, but the pearl brings bad luck to the family. People are full of greed in this story, and so is Kino for awhile. But in the end, they make an important decision as to what to do with the pearl.
