City Manager Invites Community to Dream Bigger

Claremore City Manager Jim Thomas issued an invitation to the community to dream bigger following his budget presentation to city council at Monday’s council meeting. The announcement of Claremore Dreams 2025 outlined a nine-month visioning process that results in a ten-year strategic plan.

“During the January 2017 State of the City address I announced the proposal to develop a new plan that will be a true lasting legacy,” said Thomas. ”We are working on a shared vision. Our goal is to establish a legacy that will stand the test of time. That future generations and our children will inherit.”

In 2012 a consensus among city council and department heads was reached to focus resources in a few keys areas including: regional partnerships, city planning, economic development, tourism, and transportation. The fall of 2017 marks the culmination of five focused years of progress presenting the ideal time to refresh the vision of Claremore’s future.

“When I took office as the city manager my first act was to assemble a vision and plan that would move Claremore forward,” said Thomas. “That vision gathered city leadership and several key partners together in a spirit of collaboration that has brought our fine city into a new chapter.”

One unmistakable mark of this new chapter in Claremore’s story is the recent string of successful initiatives. Today Claremore celebrates significant infrastructure advancements, quality of life improvements, and business developments that have brought new retail and dining experiences to town. This includes a holistic transportation plan, water treatment plan, two outdoor splash pads, and several key regional and national brands including Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, La Quinta, Petsense, Planet Fitness, Main Street Tavern, and Chick-fil-a.

“There is a passion in our people. We are excited about our future and our future is bright. Claremore Dreams 2025 will be a transparent planning process assured to be inclusive and robust. This will not be a plan cobbled together by a few insiders, but a community-wide engagement of listening.”
