Inspiration portrait. Portrait of a Young Woman (Lucas Cranach the Elder) dating from around 1530, now housed in the Uffizi Gallery of Florence, Italy. Yes, I'm planning to make the dress, but I started with the hat!
I am using Baroness Genoveva von Lubeck's gold-haube pattern found here.
11/13/20: Dressing the slate frame with red linen
11/13/20: Added gold silk taffeta
11/14/20: Transferring grid from paper to fabric.
11/27/20: First try was all 3mm (Swarovski) pearls. Calculated it would use ~2000 pearls and changed plan.
12/7/20: Plan B was to couch silk thread, but the first yarn I bought was too uneven.
12/22/20: 20/2 silk thread couched with 60/2 silk thread
12/31/20: Black silk grid complete.
2/5/21: Large (4mm) and small (3mm) pearls all sewn on hood.
2/25/21: Front band with apples gold couched.
3/8/21: Back band gold couched in progress.
4/2/21: All the bands and all the apples gold couched. Ready to be cut off frame.
4/20/21: Attaching bands to hood.
View of gathered hood finished.
View of me wearing hood and previously completed split brim hat.
