3° Edition of the workshop aims at fostering discussion about the state of the art on regulations for AI and how to use AI for regulations
(and more generally in the legal domain).
What are the strengths and weaknesses of using AI? Are they currently transparent, accurate, and trustworthy enough?
The European Union was one of the first major jurisdictions to introduce a comprehensive framework for AI, and it is expected that many more jurisdictions will follow the EU lead.
The IT market is global and transnational, if a system is developed in a country, it is generally deployed in another, and accessed in a third one. Accordingly, in this trans-jurisdictional context, the AI Act will have an impact on the European market and on the worldwide market. Other countries are also regulating AI systems, the harmonization of such further norms is a hot topic, as it will be needed for all the enterprises entering the market. The AI Act will inevitably impact both other countries' regulations and the global market economy, as it is the first strong restrictive framework published in Europe.
As AI solutions continue to evolve, their adoption within the legal profession is expected to grow, as it is expected to in the health domain as well, offering benefits to both domains. However, the judicial, legal, and health domains are considered sensitive and high-risk domains. Accordingly, what are the AI tools that can be deemed and proven beneficial to these high-risk domains? What are the areas of these domains where AI tools can be successful? How can these AI systems be certified against AI regulations?
