On February 22, 2019 we will hold our third Virtual Writing Retreat focused on writing scholarship about Connected Learning and Connected Learning in Teacher Education! It is virtual because there will be on online presence throughout the day on February 22nd (10-4:00 ET), and you can drop in and out as fits your schedule and interests.

The schedule is below. In the morning there will be three 45-minute 'Shut Up & Write' Rounds after an orientation and goal setting activity at 10:00am (hosted via Google Docs). In the afternoon, we will break out (within the same Zoom call) into feedback groups. Each person gets about 30 minutes to field scholarship questions about CLinTE-related work to their group. These can be about a range of things from feedback on what you wrote during the retreat, research design & data in CL work, or ideas about building strong partnerships.

  • When: February 22, 2019 10am-4:00pm ET
  • Where: Zoom Meeting (to be announced here on the day of)
  • How: Below is a schedule. There are two options for the afternoon time. If you are just joining for a Shut up and & Write session or two, pop in at the :45 mark of the hour to get an orientation before breaking out.
    • 10-10:45 Orientation to the day, goal planning exercise, and sharing of best strategies
    • 10:45-11:00 Getting set up to write (For those who want to breakout with a team in the morning, just let the facilitator know.)
    • 11-11:45 Shut up and Write #1
    • 11:45-12 Optional Check in/Required Break
    • 12-12:45 Shut up and Write #2
    • 12:45-1 Optional Check in/Required Break
    • 1-1:45 Shut up and Write #3
    • 1:45-2:00 Final Check in and Report on Goal Progress
    • Option 1:
      • 2-2:20 Orientation to Feedback Groups
      • 2:20-4:20 Break out into Feedback Groups -- Bring what you have written today or previously with feedback questions for group members. Each person gets about 30 minutes to field scholarship questions about CLinTE work. These can be about a range of things from research design/data to writing--public and academic to building strong partnerships, etc.

      • 2:00-2:45 Shut up and Write #4
      • 2:45-3:00 Optional Check in/Required Break
      • 3:00-3:45 Shut up and Write #5
      • 3:45-4:00 Final Check in and Report on Goal Progress
