Tiny Tots - Tuesdays 6:00-6:30pm

Teeny tots is for our tiniest of dancers (ages 3-4) and Tiny Tots is for ages 5-6. Dancers will learn the basics of highland dance (positions, movements of elevation, basic movements, etc.) and work up to full dances. Classes will be based on games and discovery, but will develop balance, strength, dexterity, coordination, creativity and resiliency during this important developmental stage. Dancers will receive the foundations of theory as they learn movements. 

Junior Highland - Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm

This class is for newer dancers and those with some experience. Dancers will learn the basic competitive highland dances (Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Triubhas, Strathspey and Highland Reel) and national dances (Scottish Lilt, Flora MacDonald’s Fancy, etc.) while working on stamina, agility and technique. Dancers will also learn the history behind each dance, as well as highland dance theory. 

Novice Highland  - COMING SOON

This class is for dancers generally aged 10-15, who know the basics and are expanding their repertoire with more challenging steps, as well as more advanced dances (Village Maid, Blue Bonnets, Earl of Errol, Irish Jig, Sailor’s Hornpipe, Tribute to J.L. MacKenzie, Scotch Measure, etc.). Dancers will begin character dances at this level and develop a fuller understanding of the historical traditions of highland dance, as well as more in-depth theory. 

Adult Highland - Mondays 5:30-6:30pm

This class is for adult dancers of any level who are looking for a fun and challenging way to stay fit. Highland Dance is high-intensity cardio, but the intricate steps provide excellent focal points to distract as well as motivate. As an adult dancer myself, I’ll make sure to lead proper warm up/stretching/cool down sessions and take into consideration any existing injuries dancers may have. This class may also lead to fun choreography for events around town. Come on out and “meet me at the barre”!
