1. Introduction

Civil ToolKit is a free Civil Engineering Calculator application built for Android devices. The App is provided by the developer as a commercial service and is intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy has been updated to reflect the addition of Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP SDK) for consent management. By downloading and using Civil ToolKit, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Civil ToolKit is a fully offline calculator app. We do NOT collect:

•  Your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identity information.

•  User registration or login of any kind is not required.

•  Your calculation inputs or results — these are never sent to any server.

•  Your GPS location.

•  Access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or device files.

•  Personal data for marketing or profiling purposes.

All calculation data (concrete volumes, brick quantities, cost estimates, etc.) is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted externally.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App saves the following on your device using Android SharedPreferences (never leaves your device):

•  Your selected measurement unit (Meter or Feet)

•  Your selected currency (e.g., BDT, USD, EUR, etc.)

•  Whether you have agreed to this Privacy Policy (first-launch flag)

•  Your advertising consent preferences collected via the UMP SDK consent dialog (see Section 5)

You can clear all locally stored data at any time via: Android Settings > Apps > Civil ToolKit > Storage > Clear Data.

4. Third-Party Services — Google AdMob

Civil ToolKit displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices (see Section 5), AdMob may serve either personalized or non-personalized ads. AdMob may collect:

•  Device advertising ID (Android Advertising ID)

•  IP address (used for general location — country/region level only)

•  Device type, manufacturer, and operating system version

•  App interaction data (ad impressions, clicks, view time)

•  Consent signals passed from the UMP SDK (see Section 5)

5. Consent Management — Google User Messaging Platform (UMP SDK) 

Civil ToolKit uses the Google User Messaging Platform SDK (com.google.android.ump:user-messaging-platform:4.0.0) to manage user consent for advertising, in compliance with GDPR in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and other applicable privacy laws.

What is the UMP SDK?

The UMP SDK is a Google-provided consent management tool that displays a consent dialog to users in regions where consent for data collection and personalized advertising is required by law (such as the EU/EEA under GDPR).

Who sees the consent dialog?

The UMP SDK automatically detects the user's region. The consent dialog is shown to users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Users outside these regions typically do not see the consent dialog.

What does the consent dialog ask?

The consent dialog allows you to choose whether to consent to:

•  Personalized advertising — ads tailored to your interests based on your device data

•  Non-personalized advertising — generic ads that do not use personal data for targeting

•  Google's partners storing and accessing information on your device for advertising purposes

What happens based on your choice?

•  If you consent: Google AdMob may serve personalized ads using your device data.

•  If you decline: Google AdMob will only serve non-personalized ads. Your data will not be used for ad targeting.

•  You can change your consent at any time by clearing App data: Settings > Apps > Civil ToolKit > Storage > Clear Data, then reopen the app.

Data collected by the UMP SDK:

•  Your consent choice (accepted/declined / partially accepted)

•  Timestamp of when consent was given or updated

•  IAB TCF (Transparency and Consent Framework) consent string — stored locally on your device and shared with Google's advertising systems to communicate your choices to advertising partners

The consent string is stored locally on your device and shared with Google's advertising systems to ensure your preferences are respected. It is not stored on our servers.

Note: This consent management setup follows the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) standards used across the digital advertising industry.

6. Google Play Services

The App is distributed through the Google Play Store and uses standard Google Play Services. Google Play may collect certain information as part of their platform. Please refer to:

7. Crash Reports and Log Data

If the App crashes or encounters an error, your Android operating system may automatically generate log data. This may include:

•  Device Internet Protocol (IP) address

•  Device name and model

•  Android operating system version

•  Time and date of the crash

•  Other technical statistics related to the crash

This log data is handled by your device's operating system and Google Play Services, not by us directly. We do not operate any crash analytics service within this App.

8. Cookies

Civil ToolKit does not use cookies. Third-party advertising SDKs (AdMob and UMP) may use device identifiers and locally stored consent strings (as described in Sections 4 and 5) for ad serving purposes.

9. GDPR — Rights of Users in the European Economic Area 

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under GDPR:

•  Right to be informed — This privacy policy informs you of how data is used.

•  Right to access — You can request information about data held about you by contacting us.

•  Right to withdraw consent — Clear App data to reset your advertising consent choice.

•  Right to object — Decline consent in the UMP dialog or via Android ad settings.

•  Right to lodge a complaint — You may contact your local data protection authority.

Since we do not directly collect personal data on our servers, most GDPR requests can be fulfilled by managing your preferences directly on your device as described above.

10. CCPA — Rights of California Residents

11. Children's Privacy

Civil ToolKit is a professional engineering tool intended for adults, civil engineers, construction professionals, and engineering students aged 18 and above.

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 18 has used the App and provided personal information, please contact us at the email address below and we will take immediate steps to delete such information.

12. Security

Since Civil ToolKit does not collect or transmit personal data to any server, the security risk to your personal information is minimal. Your locally stored preferences (unit and currency settings) are protected by your device's built-in Android security.

We are committed to maintaining the security of the App and recommend keeping your Android device updated to the latest security patches.

13. Links to Other Sites

This App does not contain links to external websites. The Privacy Policy link you access (this document) is the only external URL the App opens. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any external websites.

13. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You can manage all App-related data directly on your device:

•  Clear App data: Android Settings > Apps > Civil ToolKit > Storage > Clear Data (also resets UMP consent — dialog will appear again on next launch)

•  Uninstall the App: Removes all local data including consent strings permanently.

•  Opt out of personalized ads: Android Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or third-party service policies. When we do:

•  The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised.

•  The updated policy will be posted at the same URL linked within the App.

•  Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.

We recommend reviewing this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through an update notice in the App or on the Google Play Store listing.
