Background

Like other humans, Clover was born on the surface world. Clover lost their parents at an early age. Without any other family, Clover was places into a foster home, where them and several other foster kids were mistreated by their foster parents. As the oldest of the foster kids, a lot of responsibilities were forced upon them at an early age. The only break they had was when they went to school. While they didn't have many friends, Clover did manage to befriend Oliver, who they constantly defended from bullies.

A few years ago, Oliver went missing. According to other kids, he was last seen on Mt. Ebott. And he wasn’t the only one; four other kids have since gone missing around Mt. Ebott. Determined to find them, Clover headed up to Mt. Ebbot in order to venture into the Underground, making them the seventh human to fall into the underground.

Like the previous humans, Clover wound up in the ruins where they were met to Toriel, the former queen of the underground. Their time was breif, however, when Clover fell into the Dark Ruins after interacting with a lever puzzle. Here, Clover would meet Flowey, a talking flower who would end up becoming Clover's guide.

Clover ventured into the Dark Ruins until he came across Dalv, a vampire-like monster, towards the end. After proving the they meant no harm, Clover befriended Dalv and exited the Dark Ruins and into Snowdin. Here, Clover would meet Martlet, a member of the royal guard. While they had a confrontation, Martlet couldn't bring herself to hurt them and instead decided to help guide them back to the surface.

Hopping on a boat, Clover and Martlet sail through Waterfall before crashing into the caves, seperating the two. After venturing through the caves alone and into the Dunes, Clover manages to reunite with Martlet but as they reach the Wild East, Clover is captured by the Feisty Five and Martlet is jailed.

Starlo, the leader of the Feisty Five, takes a liking to Clover and decided to make them the debuty to his sheriff, much to the dislike of his posse. After being told off by his posse, this leads to a confrontation between the two. Clover manages to hold Starlo off long enough for Ceroba, Starlo's childhood friend, to talk him down.

Free again, Martlet heads back to Snowdin due to her not reporting in a while, leading Ceroba to take Clover through Steamworks, an abandoned factory predating the CORE. While in Steamworks, Clover and Ceroba are persued by AXIS, the 14th and final in a line of robots made by Chujin, Ceroba's late husband. Eventually, Clover is cornered by AXIS and has to hold off AXIS long enough in order for Ceroba to step in.

However, as Ceroba and Clover reach the elevator that would take them to the CORE, they are stopped by Starlo who confronts Ceroba about her ulterior motives. After being whisked back to Wild East, Clover is reunited with Martlet and together, they investigate the Ketsukane family home where they find a secret room underneath the house where they find tapes left behind by Chujin, who had been working to create a mass population of Boss Monsters using a special serum extracted from a Monster with a human SOUL.

Upon discovering this, Clover and Martlet head to New Home where she, Starlo, and Clover confront Ceroba. Ceroba swiftly knocks out Starlo and Clover, leaving just her and Clover to come into conflict. Clover holds Ceroba off just long enough for Starlo and Martlet to recover and talk Ceroba down. But now they were left with a new problem: Clover's safety.

A fight breaks out amoungst the trio and not wanting to see their new friends fight, Clover willingly gives up their soul, becoming the 6th human soul collected.
