Saffron the Bee was born to a noble family within the Golden Colony Hive before it was taken over by the Wasps. Saffron was abandoned within Woodhill Zone on Westside Island where she was found and taken in by Rosie. As Saffron grew up, she listened to the stories about the Freedom Fighters and their victories against Dr. Eggman, and she began to develop an adventurous spirit of her own. She then began to express desires of joining the Freedom Fighters, but was often put down because of how young she was.

One day, however, Saffron snuck onto a mission with Julie. Despite their initial shock and anger, it was Saffron that helped make the mission a success. Once they all got back, Saffron was made a junior member of the Freedom Fighters after she was properly scolded first. She now serves as a junior member of the Freedom Fighters.
