TW: mentions of favoritism and familialcide ahead!
Abel is the second son of Adam and Eve, having been born sometime after Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden. Despite growing up outside of Eden, Abel came to be favored by the angels in Heaven, which began to cause a rift between him and his older brother, Cain. As he got older, Abel became a devoted shepherd while Cain dedicated himself to being a farmer. Eventually, the time would come for both brothers to present offerings to Heaven. In the end, it's was Abel's offering that was picked over Cain's.
Overcome with jealousy and anger, Cain and Abel had a fight. While Abel tried to comfort his brother, Cain refused his attempts. As the fight escalated, Cain would end up hitting Abel over the head with a nearby rock. The initial blow didn't kill him immediately and upon realizing this, Cain hit him over the head repeatedly until it did.
Following this, Abel ascended to Heaven as a winner, one of the very first.
