The Citizen Police Academy Alumni of Aurora (CPAAA) serves the Aurora Police Department (APD), the City of Aurora and other local non-profit organizations by offering volunteer services throughout the year. The CPAAA also hosts monthly educational meetings for our membership, which currently consists of 300+ community members. In addition to volunteering events, the CPAAA also hosts a variety of fun social outings throughout the year, giving members the opportunity to celebrate community and connect with new friends. In 2024, the CPAAA celebrated its 30th Anniversary!

OUR MISSION
The Citizen Police Academy Alumni of Aurora (CPAAA) mission is to assist the Aurora Police Department (APD) by promoting and enhancing the relationship between the community and the APD through continuing law enforcement education of our members and the community by supporting and promoting special projects that strengthen the services provided by the APD.

The CPAAA supports the APD by volunteerism, fostering the belief that preservation of public welfare is the duty of every citizen. As a citizen group, we offer a helping hand to our community to improve our quality of life. We assist the APD in developing and coordinating various projects that are meaningful, rewarding experiences for our community.

Monthly Meetings
Monthly Meetings
General Member meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. During these meetings, we address important topics and invite special guests to speak. Past guest speakers include the Aurora Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, the Mayor, other local leaders and many other influential citizens of Aurora and surrounding areas.

Community
CPAAA members give back to their community through volunteer opportunities, can attend numerous social events the Organization holds throughout the year, as well as learn more about other law enforcement and law enforcement-adjacent partners that serve our community.
Knowledge
Knowledge
Membership improves the communication and trust between citizens of our community and police officers by allowing participants to learn more about the various functions of the police department. Members can develop a better understanding of the various responsibilities police officers have and experience scenario-based scenarios that give them a first-hand look at how APD officers work together to keep Aurora a safe city to live in, work in, and visit.
CPAAA members have the opportunity to become members of the Aurora Policemen Credit Union (APCU), which is usually only offered to City of Aurora employees and a few select county and local departments. The APCU exists to serve their members, not to make a profit. Unlike most other financial institutions, credit unions do not issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings are returned to their members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees. Each credit union is goverened by a board of directors, elected by and from the credit union's membership. These board members serve voluntarily.
