Till then I'm trying to access my router via the switch ports. I can see the router on 192.168.1.1 using SSH and HTTPS. The problem is the default password for the unit on the Cisco site doesn't work. I've found a website with a table of different cisco default passwords using cisco, Cisco, admin, Admin, administrator, and Administrator and I cannot get logged into this thing.

- Hmm, when using the console the router will come up and display a Router > prompt , from which further configurations can be done, meaning the 'enable' command can be entered then without a password. Guess console access may be a requirement here.

Cisco Router Default Password

I'm unable to find the default username and password to do the initial configuration and the link appears to be for configuring the web service on the router. Is there something I'm missing from this page?

NOTE: Be sure to change the password to something you can easily remember. After rebooting, the default password will not be accessible unless you add it back to the list of passwords. The passwords will be restored to the passwords configured on the switch

Judging by the news circulating, it is the company that will suffer great losses very soon due to the stealing of the codes of the operating systems of Cisco routers (we are talking about the execution of a 2.5 mbyte code. There is a lot of news that Cisco's internal network has been infiltrated). Not only the company, but the whole world can suffer great losses, because cisco has a great dominance in networks around the world. Updated at 07-12-2021 date.

That table *seems* to be mostly (if not all) residential and/or small business type devices. I suppose those are more likely to contain default credentials than enterprise type devices such as ASR/ISR routers, Catalyst 3850/9000 series switches, ASA/Firepower, etc.

Simply head over to your Cisco router login page (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254), and enter the username and password combination from the list. If the password doesnt work then it usually means the password has been changed. Be sure to reset the device and try the default combination again.

I have a question to the cisco IOS specialists. My teacher asked me a question: what is the default username for "enable password/secret". He told me that it may be found in the internet, but i need to ask google unconditionaly. I've been thinking about the question without success.

Some authentication backends -- like RADIUS -- always need a username field. If we use those authentication backends to authenticate the enable mode category (using a configuration like aaa authentication enable default group EXEC-RADIUS) then the router supplies the backend with $enab15$ in the RADIUS User-Name field.

The username for devices that have default authentication credentials or have not fetched configuration will be the serial number (upper case letters and dashes) with no password. Authentication credentials should be changed to have a strong password after their initial use. Please see the Changing Log-In Credentials section below.

As mentioned in the Accessing the Local Status Page section above, the default credentials for the local status page are the serial number of the device (upper-case letters with dashes) for the username, and a blank password. After their initial use these default credentials should be modified to use an administrator-defined password. Navigate to Network-wide > Configure > General > Device configuration and provide a strong password. This password can then be used with the username "admin" to access certain pages, including the local status page. Note that the password you set will apply to all devices in your network.

But what if we want to retain the existing configuration on the router? Another solution is to perform a password recovery on the router. We will discuss how to restore our Cisco routers and switches to the factory defaults and also how to implement password recovery on them.

The login and password patterns are also applicable for login/password prompts displayed duringreload(), switchover() services. It is possible to override the login andpassword dialogs and other default dialogs in the execute service by specifying theservice_dialog option in the execute statement. See execute service.

If you would like to restore the default password, you can perform a pin-hole reset. Note that this will restore all of the default settings, including the WiFi channel and your WiFi network name. You can rename your network after restoring your default password. To restore to your default settings:

After restoring to default settings, you will need to log in to your WiFi network with the information that is on the sticker on your modem. Once you are logged in, you can rename your network and update your password (if you want it to be something that you can better remember).

In the example, we explicitly configured a FTP username and password on the router. Once this information is defined, using FTP is as easy as using TFTP. You can also override the username and password settings defined in the configuration file by including them on the command line:

Login: Enter the appropriate login credentials, which typically include a username and password. These credentials are often different from the CLI login credentials. If this is the first time accessing the GUI, you may be prompted to change the default credentials.

These commands should help you configure the Cisco C1111-4PW router with basic configurations, including hostname, interface, default route, ACL, SSH, VLAN, and SNMP. Make sure to replace any placeholders with the appropriate values for your network.

Now try to log in the privileged mode again (type enable in the user mode). First, try the password digitaltut again; the router will not accept this password anymore. Now type digitaltutSecret and we can login! (make sure you capitalize the letter S).

To get access to every router of Cisco (e.g. RV082 (Linksys) ,AIR-OEAP602I-A-K9 or Meraki MR24 ), you need the IP of your router, the username and router password. You can find these information in Cisco router manuals. But if you do not have the manual for your router or you do not want to read the whole manual to find the default login information then you can use the quick guide below.

Open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer)Type 192.168.1.1 (the most common IP for Cisco routers) in the address bar of your web browser to access the router's web-based user interface. Alternatively you can type the following URL in the address bar: You should see 2 text fields where you can enter a username and a password. The default username for your Cisco router is Cisco.

The default password is Cisco.Enter the username & password, hit "Enter" and now you should see the control panel of your router. If above login credentials doesn't work then try this methodIf these steps doesn't work for you and you still can't login to your router then there's another method. You know the model name/ID of your Cisco router? Great! Just select your device from the box below and you will be redirected to our guide especially for your device that includes a user manual.

In the list below you will see the most popular default username and password combinations used by Cisco. Sometimes the username and password doesn't work that we mentioned in the top of this guide. Then you can try these username/password combinations below to get access to your wireless router.

By default, all devices connected to your router are protected by the VPN. If you want some devices not to use the VPN or receive an internet connection, you can use the Device Group feature to create a new device group without VPN protection or the internet and assign devices to it. Learn more.

Every device has a default MAC address used by routers to identify it on a network. If it uses a randomized MAC address instead of the default one, this might cause it to appear more than once on your router dashboard. Learn more.
