Most deployments of Cisco Jabber use DNS SRV (Service Record) to discover the Service Domain via SRV _cuplogin._tcp. or _cisco-uds._tcp.. Depending on the login service, you can define the following parameter within the jabber-config.xml file;

You're not talking about creating a Custom Installer, that's something else. When you create a Custom Installer... you can create multiple copies of the .msi file. Perhaps one .msi in English, another .msi in Spanish, or whatever. There's a limited number of parameters you can define with the Custom Installer. During the installation, a file called 'jabber-bootstrap.properties' is created under your C: Drive > ProgramData > Cisco System > Cisco Jabber (default location - I believe).

This file contains a limited list of parameters which override the jabber-config.xml file. Therefore, if you specify a parameter within the 'jabber-bootstrap.properties' file... takes precedence over the jabber-config.xml parameters. However, any configurations specified by the user [under the Advanced Settings link] takes precedence over the SRV and Bootstrap.

Hmmm, what parameters do you want to change exactly? You can only modify a handful (maybe a dozen or so) parameters when you create a Custom Installer > Bootstrap. Most of the parameters for Cisco Jabber are located under the jabber-config.xml file. This file is stored on the TFTP server (i.e. whichever CUCM is running the TFTP services). When you make changes to this file... simply save and upload this file to the TFTP server, then logout/login to Cisco Jabber again. However, make sure the xml renders via IE or Firefox. Any mistakes within the xml file might cause problems, like unavailable services or advance features.

I had the same issue on a uninstall and reinstall of Jabber 11.8 today. This recommendation worked for me. I'll say that I have MANY cisco products installed, so I had to look for keywords Jabber in the various folders I deleted in the registry. I too have full admin rights and do not think this was any type of AD-GPO policy issue in my case. In my case, its almost like the uninstaller did not do the removals of these values properly. I did start a TAC Case (SR 681848253 : jabber / won't reinstall and launch), and found this fix before TAC could recommend it to me.

I used to use the microsoft Program Install and ninstall.meta program however that seem to not work anymore from Microsoft, starting to run out of solutions trying to install cisco jabber. Anyone ever come up with a solution?

These are the MSI properties we used for out install. Keep in mind that most of the other settings are pushed out from the Cisco backend, ie we tried to get the backend to configure most of the jabber client, so minimal adjustments are required on install.

Side note, we used Skype for Business for our presence, so some of the settings below are to disable Jabber presence (presence = outlook, the green/yellow icon for online offline chat). Fyi, once jabber has set it self for presence, its a bit tricky to revert back to skype - leave a comment if you want more details on that.

I want to configure Cisco Jabber and enable the function of the PickupGroup and HuntGroup in Cisco Jabber. For this I have to adapt an xml file (jabber-config-defaults.xml) in C:\Program Files(x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber. I have to paste this piece of code

I'm having the same issue as well. from what I gather its seems like the jabber client doesn't like the legacy style of "junction point" that's presented to it while the appcapture process is running. I did confirm that I could install Jabber(Version: 11.5.2.31411) as a normal install without the appcapture process running. I'm going to open up a ticket with VMware on this and will post back what they find.

As you can see in the below screenshot, the Cisco Jabber Application is installed successfully on Windows 10/11 devices. This proves that the above MSI installer works fine for Cisco Jabber Application Installation using SCCM.

Step 2c. Click CiscoJabberSetup. This will download the file, and you will need to launch the installer. If you have never installed software on your computer and do not know how to do so, please contact the Help Desk at 708-608-4357.

Download and extract WinSDKTools.zip and install WinSDKTools_amd64.msi on Server (you will need x86 installer if 32 bit). After installing this, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin and double click on Orca.Msi. This will install the Orca application.

From here you need to test downloading each of these files and once that works you can proceed updating your jabber-config.xml. Recall that your jabber-config.xml file is hosted on CUCM so be prepared to update that file, upload to CUCM, and restart TFTP services. Please remember to upload to all your TFTP nodes in the cluster.

I ended up using CUCM as the web server. I uploaded jabber-update.xml and my Jabber installer file to the Call Manager Publisher TFTP site by going to the CUCM website > Cisco Unified OS Administration > Software Updates > TFTP File Management > Upload File. ff782bc1db
