Going into this PPV we knew that this was the first PPV to have a live audience and what an event it was. The limited amount of people that were able to see this in person will have a great story to tell.
The match was entertaining for being an original setting. At first it seemed it would be a cinematic match I do feel that it could have been longer and had more wrestling action but overall an interesting way to start off the show. I liked the finish with Baker being injected and put to sleep by the anesthesia. I do believe this will be the end of this feud which was hurt mostly because of Baker’s inactivity.
Jungle Boy always impresses me in the ring, he and Luchasaurus have the perfect blend of power and ability as a tag team that is fun to watch. Both teams needed a victory
Marko Stunt getting involved is a very heel thing to do but in AEW we see the heel/face lines blurred by things like these, and in a way makes for more intriguing television.
The Young Bucks came out with the victory but like any great team, they found a way. And with this win they make a strong case for a shot at the AEW tag team titles.
This is a creative take on the battle royal. At first I thought that the Casino Battle Royal was a Double or Nothing exclusive match because of the gambling concept but I’m glad that they make it available for any event. The surprise of the match, in more ways than one, was Matt Sydal. Who was an unexpected entrant and also unexpectedly slipped from the top rope in his first move as a member of the AEW roster. At one point of the match Brian Cage put Darby Allin into a body bag filled with thumbtacks. The winner ended up being Lance Archer which sets him up as the next contender for the AEW world title. In my opinion he was the best choice for the next challenge regardless of who would win the main event.
This was probably my most anticipated contest in this card. The commentators mentioned that the match had no count-outs and referee Aubrey Edwards started counting Sammy out right after that was said. If you were wondering what a Broken Rules match is it can basically be compared to a Last Man Standing Match in WWE. A few minutes into the match the match was stopped even without a 10 count because of Matt Hardy going through the table. Even if it was a work or a shoot it was enough to make me want to see them go after each other even more. Once the match was restarted both wrestlers went up to one of the metal towers and Guevara was thrown off of it and was unable to respond to the 10 count. I do think that there was a better plan for this match but I guess we’ll never know how it really was supposed to go.
The AEW women’s division has been lacking super matches and having Rosa come in from NWA is the kick in the butt that the division needs. So I was looking forward to seeing how this match would go. This was a match that could rival anything in WWE's women's revolution. Both women showed off what they could do and in my opinion was the best women's match in AEW history so far. Hikaru emerged victorious and showed why she can put this division on the map. And I also look forward to more interpromotional crossovers.
After Cody's loss of the TNT Championship to Brodie Lee, the Natural Nightmares along with Matt Cardona and Scorpio Sky were looking for retribution. The Dark order came into this match with a lot of momentum. Even Colt Cabana contributed to how dominant the Order was during the match for a bit. I like how Cardona renamed the Broski Boot to the ReBoot and I almost wish he wasn't involved in this match so that he could have had a singles match. Dustin Rhodes got the pin on Colt Cabana, I kind of disagree with the result because it kind of puts a halt on the Order's momentum. In the end the announcement of Dustin vs Lee for the TNT title on Dynamite and I definitely would like to see Brodie dominate Dustin.
The story going into this match was how Adam Page was kicked out of The Elite by the Bucks. FTR, managed by Tully Blanchard was ready for this match and the odds on favorite. Trust the theme in the lead up to this match and right off the bat Hangman asked for Omega's trust. What a match it was, these two teams put on a tag team clinic. WWE really let a very talented team go. FTR earned those titles and we can most certainly start the build towards a Young Bucks vs FTR feud. As for Omega and Page, they can now go ahead and focus on their own singles careers. For Omega, this is the perfect time for a heel turn.
This is the third match for this rivalry. The audience singing along to Jericho's theme is always a highlight. This feud has introduced us to more layers for the Orange Cassidy character and right from the opening bell we saw Cassidy with the urge to win. So it seems that there were two ways to win this match, pinfall, and throwing you opponent into the giant pool of mimosa. A monumental victory for Cassidy, we are starting to see some memorable rivalries in AEW and this is one of them.
The main event. Both men came in with undefeated records in 2020 and the AEW title was on the line so the stakes were high. MJF came out with all the confidence that brought him there. Moxley came out and was nearly touched by a fan. MJF knew not to have a match that benefited Mox but Jon knew how to take control of the match in the outside. We saw how tough Friedman is and that he can hang with the best of them. Moxley took advantage of the distraction that Wardlow provided so he could use the Paradigm Shift. A great way to end the event, both men have risen their stock in my opinion and now we look ahead to the feud between Lance Archer and Jon Moxley.
