Introduction

The 6th International Conference on Metaphor in Language and Thought is an important conference for researchers on metaphors and for researchers in Cognitive Linguistics in general, both nationally and internationally. In its last editions, the conference has counted on the participation of more than 250 researchers from all over the world and turns to several aspects pertinent to Cognitive Linguistics, mainly to the current theme Metaphor and Multimodality.

The 6th ICMLT aims to bring together researchers from all over the world interested in researching the role of Metaphor in language and thought. Abstracts of papers will be analyzed on all topics related to the conference theme, including: Metaphor and multimodality; Metaphor and complexity; Metaphor and teaching; Metaphor and culture; Metaphor in the different theoretical-methodological perspectives; Metaphor and neurosciences; and Metaphor and discourse.

This edition is going to be held in Salvador (Brazil), at UFBA (Ondina Campus) on October 24-27. The conference is an achievement of three Graduation Programs of Universities from Bahia: Linguistic Graduation Program (Programa de Pós-graduação em Linguística), from UESB; Language and Culture Graduation Program (Programa de Pós-graduação em Língua e Cultura), from UFBA , and Cultural Critique Graduation Program (Programa de Pós-graduação em Crítica Cultural), from UNEB.
