Title: Brane Tilings to Brane Brick Models - An Overview

Abstract:

This talk will give a pedagogical introduction to Brane Tilings and Brane Brick Models. Brane Tilings are bipartite periodic graphs on the 2-torus that encode both the geometry of a toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold and a corresponding 4-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory. Brane Brick Models, on the other hand, are periodic tessellations of a 3-torus that encode the geometry of a toric Calabi-Yau 4-fold and a corresponding 2-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory. We will outline how these two objects are related to each other and give an overview of the implications of this relationship, with a glimpse of future open problems.
