Abstract:

A promising recent approach for understanding complex phenomena is recognition of anticipatory behavior of living organisms and social organizations. The anticipatory, predictive action permits learning, novelty seeking and rich experiential existence. The anticipatory perspective is broader than the now popular predictive processing model of the brain and life processes, as cognizing beings do more than predict their sensorium and minimize own decay. They seek also to enact their existential agendas, often at considerable cost for little certainty.
