Title: Computational algebraic geometry meets string theory

Abstract:

We describe several open problems in computational algebraic geometry whose solution would be very useful for a number of problems in string theory. Some of these can be computed in principle, and the computation works for smaller examples, and we show some examples of this in Macaulay2. For one of our open problems, there is no known algorithm in general. We describe some results related to these open problems.
