Day 4

Title: Applications of numerically solving polynomial systems (slides)

Speaker: Jon Hauenstein (Notre Dame)

Time: 14:00-14:35 (GMT+0), 2021.08.05

Abstract:

Systems of polynomial equations arise in many areas of science and engineering. Numerical algebraic geometry aims to develop methods for solving polynomial systems using numerical techniques such as homotopy continuation and linear slicing. This talk will follow an application-driven approach by summarizing how several specific problems arising in science and engineering were able to be solved using methods from numerical algebraic geometry.
