Day 8

Title: A finite model of quantum mechanics

Speaker: Boris Zilber (Oxford)

Time: 12:15-12:50 (GMT+0), 2021.08.11

Abstract:

I will explain how, based on ideas and principles of model theory, one can formalise the notion of "a huge finite universe". The application of this notion even to quantum mechanics involves quite a delicate model-theoretic and number-theoretic analysis. Results for the case of quantum mechanics for particles with quadratic potential will be reported and problems for more general cases briefly discussed.
