Share your voice on D65 school closure scenarios
The D65 School Board has called a special meeting for Tuesday, October 14, at 9 am (note new date) to continue discussing the school closure scenarios presented last week. We strongly encourage all Chute parents to watch online or attend in person if your schedule allows.
Why This Matters to Chute Families
While no final decisions have been made, the scenarios under consideration would have a significant impact on Chute families—especially those with children still in elementary school. Under both proposals, many families would be required to switch schools even if their current school remains open. Some families could end up with students attending two different middle schools as feeder patterns change.
Two Scenarios Under Consideration:
Scenario 3D: Washington, Lincolnwood, and Kingsley close
- Schools close after the 2025-26 school year
- Approximately 18% of students receive new school assignments
- Maintains current middle school feeder patterns
Scenario 3B: Dawes, Lincolnwood, and Kingsley close
- Schools close after the 2025-26 school year
- Approximately 28% of students receive new school assignments
- Lincoln moves to the Chute feeder pattern
- Walker moves to the Nichols feeder pattern.
