Chung-Han Hsieh is a control theorist and applied mathematician working at the intersection of systems and control, robust optimization, and quantitative finance. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Quantitative Finance at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019, specializing in control systems and minoring in mathematics. His doctoral research was advised by B. Ross Barmish, with J. A. Gubner as a courtesy co-advisor. His research develops control-theoretic foundations for decision-making under uncertainty, including stochastic and robust control, distributionally robust optimization, and feedback-based trading and portfolio policies. He has authored or co-authored papers in leading journals, including Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, European Journal of Operational Research, and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. He is a member of IEEE, IFAC, SIAM, and INFORMS, and a recipient of the 2025 Ta-You Wu Memorial Award from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan, and the 2025 Young Automatic Control Engineer Award from the Chinese Automatic Control Society (CACS). His Erdős number is 4.
