SYNOPSIS: I am a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund and Coordinator for the IMF’s Debt Limits Policy. Previously, I served as Division Manager (OIC) for Macroeconomic Policy, Debt Sustainability, and Forecasting at the African Development Bank. I am also a faculty member (on public service leave) at the Department of Economics, University of Uyo, Nigeria.
With nearly two decades of experience, I have a proven track record of transforming rigorous economic analysis into actionable policy for governments and international institutions. My career began at the Central Bank of Nigeria and spans academic roles as Lecturer/Assistant Professor at leading universities worldwide.
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), an M.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University (Canada), and a first-class B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Uyo (Nigeria). I have completed executive programs at Harvard Kennedy School (USA) and United Nations University–WIDER (Finland).
I have consulted for global organizations including IDRC, UNU-WIDER, AERC, UNEP, SIDA, WAIFEM, and others, and previously served as Visiting Scholar at the IMF. My research and commentary have appeared in Brookings Institution, International Economics, The Manchester School, Review of Development Economics, The Conversation, and Oxford/LSE-IGC.
