My name is Wanying, and I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Indiana University, where I major in Informatics (Complex Networks and Systems track) with a minor in Cognitive Science. Under the guidance of my advisor, Dr. YY Ahn, I collaborate with Dr. Kristina Lerman’s team at USC on narrative-related research, and Dr. BK Lee at NYU on collective attention shift and event detection research.
I hold a B.A. in Information Management and Systems (2015) and an M.A. in Informatics (2018) from Wuhan University. My research focuses on narrative discovery, including the design of computational methods to extract narratives from raw text, modeling narrative structure, understand how emotion and moral signals manifest in narrative serving competing agenda. You can explore my published work on my Google Scholar page.
Beyond academia, I’m a devoted cat servant and enjoy sketching, crocheting, and volunteering at the Bike Project. And yes, the header image is from Fantastic Mr. Fox—my favorite movie!
