Charleston will be a busy harbor this Spring and Summer with so many sailing events. Everyone should feel confident to be able to relax and enjoy themselves on the water. Brush up on your skills or learn something new as we cover the basics of Race Committee.
This event will be in a workshop format with an overview of Race Committee led by local experts. We will cover what to do leading up to and at the event. Then through two breakout sessions we'll dive deeper into specialty area. The event concludes with a 'dry' mock regatta.

Break Out Sessions
A top to bottom overview of the signal boat. Start with how to run check-in, review the flags and when to use them, the timing of the starts and who should be doing what.
Find the secret of how to be ready to drop a mark where your PRO will want it. Go over how to securely tie lines and senteniles to your mark. Learn how to drop and retrieve marks without issue to your prop.
A critical and thankfully under utilized piece of race committee. Learn how to approach people on the water and properly right boats.
What to write on that piece of paper they give you? And why? We'll discuss how to record roundings, finishes and all the other important information of the race. A brief overview of the scoring programs.
