i have friends in china and i want to communicate with them using wechat.. i have already downloaded wechat on my mobile phone but i am having a hardtime chatting with them on my phone so i want to install wechat for windows PC, but i have read in some websites that it uses a lot of resources and uses a lot of space..
I tried to outsmart them by using the wechat web app and this worked for a while too. But now what happens is that when the user scans the code it then takes them a page which says that they need to install the Desktop app instead.

@cr.bl.c I have noticed that you add "Intune-windows" tag. To clarify this issue, did you deploy any policy (such as AppLocker policy) via intune? If not, from intune's point of view, there is no helpful information I can share with you. Thanks for your understanding.
WeChat video calls work fine on my mobile device, however on my laptop WeChat app, I have the video icon and can click on the icon, the receiver is unable to see me. Microphone is working fine on both mobile phone WeChat app and WeChat desktop app
Same version of WeChat desktop app downloaded from same source is working fine on the similar laptops of my 2 of my colleagues (all 3 laptops are same model and same configuration and were bought together). Somehow, WeChat app is not able to open camera in video chat on my laptop.

It is emulating the windows system sound keys so affects overall system speakers. To focus an app is much more difficult unless it has a CLI switch like some audio apps have or an API value to target.
I have the latest updated version 2.9.0.123. I did use the option of Backup and Restore and it did ask me permission on the phone which means everything went well. BUT there is no data restored on my laptop !!

Currently, there is no chat history and it doesnt seem as if there is an option to restore it from the backup that I created through the application.
Even after doing full backup from my iphone to wechat PC (version 3.1.0.67), I can see only the recent messages on my PC, not all.
