The Chromecast is a small device that allows users to stream media from their computers and phones onto a television. It’s one of the easiest and cheapest ways to turn your regular television into a smart TV. Here’s how you can set up your Chromecast in minutes.
Installation for the Chromecast is simple and takes very little time. All you need to do is plug in the Chromecast into an available HDMI port on your television and then power it with USB cable or an alternate power source such as a wall charger. Once it’s been plugged in, then head to Google Home app for iOS devices, or head to the Play Store for Android phones. Once there, search for “Google Home app” and install it and open it.
Once installed, open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet and go to Devices > Cast Screen/ Audio > Set up new devices. You will be prompted to select which WiFi network you would like the Chromecast device to be connected too, so make sure you have that information ready before hand. After selecting a network connection, follow the prompts provided by Google Home app, they should lead you through the rest of the setup process with ease.
Now that everything is all set up, streaming media is as easy as one, two, three! Open any compatible app (such as Netflix or YouTube) on your smartphone or tablet, look for the cast button (it looks like an outline of a TV with lines coming out from various sides), tap it and select which device you want it casted too! That’s it! Now just sit back, relax and enjoy being able to watch content from your computer or phone onto your regular TV!
