When first using the Pro minis I needed an external USB to serial converter and the most common one used is the FTDI breakout board. I wanted to learn how to make my own because I could make an external converter and integrate a programmer into a design. With this programmer you can easily talk to common Arduino boards such as the Uno and Mega, but also Esp8266 and Esp3266.
