Bells announce the arrival of something or someone important or can be used to proclaim an event or occasion. Interestingly enough, the use of bells can be traced back to pagan roots. At that time, bells were used to ward off evil spirits. However, the bells were so fun to use that they eventually made their way into municipal and church use. For example, bells would be rung in good times, such as a wedding or coronation. At the same time, bells would toll for hard times, such as impending weather or a funeral.

I decided to create my own focal point with large bells in our dining room. As promised, I will give you a quick tutorial on this DIY bell garland that Robb helped me make. Admittedly, there was a moment (or two) where goodwill was doubtful. ? But he figured out how to get it to stay and all has stayed peaceful.

Secondly, we cut a small branch and stripped it of leaves. You could also use a curtain rod or pole of some kind. I loved that the branch was totally free (budget-friendly decor!). At the same time, I love the juxtaposition of the crooked, rustic branch and the more formal look of the bells.

Third, I strung the bells in a way that would feel somewhat random but still be balanced visually. Next, Robb wrapped twine around the middle and then it loops around the branches at each end a few times.

Lastly, he put one nail in each end of the cabinet, in a high spot where the small hole will never show. I supported the branch and bells while he wrapped the twine around the nail as tightly as possible. (This is important to hold it taut.). Next, he tied the twine to secure it.

Let the bells ring in your home and in your heart this Christmas. At the same time, be intentional with your space. Create an environment where peace and goodwill will ring true for you and your family!

Bells are a traditional Christmas ornament. They are part of the Christmas narrative. Jingle bells, sleigh bells, silver bells, I think you get the idea. A turned wooden Christmas bell will be a lovely ornament on the tree.

The wood for this bell is from a wooden sofa that was purchased soon after we got married. That was a long time ago. The sofa is now replaced and the wood will be reused for various wood turning projects.

Use a string to go through the hole in the knob. This string will be the loop that you use for attaching the bell to the Christmas tree. Then using a very small crochet hook reach in from the bottom of the bell, through the small diameter hole, and catch the string that is going through the knob. Pull the string down. Take a second piece of string and make a loop going through the hole in the clapper. When you tie the second string make sure it is going through the first string.

As you can see in the picture the two loops of string are intertwined. You may have to adjust your bell depending on the length of string and where your clapper is hanging within your bell. To test the position of your clapper, pull the first string tight. This will lift the second string into the body of the bell. Then you can see if the clapper is to low or too high. To make an adjustment pull on the clapper and the first string will come out through the bottom of the bell. Now retie your second string and check again.

Your Christmas bell is similar to one I have been making for some years. The difference is that I attach the clapper using small metal hook and eye set. I drill a small hole vertically in the top of the clapper and into the inside of the bell. It is a bit a a squeeze getting it in, but the effect is similar to yours. I drill a hole horizontally into the knob as yours, but thread a piece of red ribbon through it.

"I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" is a Christmas carol based on the 1863 poem "Christmas Bells" by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.[1] The song tells of the narrator hearing Christmas bells during the American Civil War, but despairing that "hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men". After much anguish and despondency the carol concludes with the bells ringing out with resolution that "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep" and that there will ultimately be "peace on earth, good will to men".

I started by dumping two of the paint covered jingle bells onto the paper. Then, I just asked my daughter: What do you think will happen if you move the box? She picked it up immediately, and tried to make the jingle bells move.

We play the videos on our big television in the basement and everyone sits around on the floor and couches and plays their notes at the right time (the bells colors match up with the colors on the screen).

Younger children can help paint and glue decorations on, while parents can help with the more difficult parts of the assembly. Older children and teens can use their imagination and get really creative with their bells.

Simple, natural, & pretty. This is pretty much my focus for Christmas decorations this year. Usually, I stress out because everything feels cluttered and I try to do way too many things (which means I do a lot of things, but none very well). So, despite my advent calendar failure (if you follow along on Instagram you know what I mean), I gave it my best and created this sweet, simple (and easy!) little Christmas bell garland.

Set the boards up directly across from each other with several feet in between. Have players stand behind the board on either side with a handful of jingle bells. Toss bells underhand and try to get your bells to land in the cups on the other side!

I have this all set to play at our family Christmas but I do not understand how you win this. Do you play teams or as individual members? Is it timed? Is it the team or person who gets the most bells in the cups?

I love this idea. Thank you for the clear instructions as to how to construct the two boards. I am however not sure how it is played? Do the players toss all bells at once? Where do they stand in relationship to the two boards? Do two players play at the same time? Thanks again.

I wanted to tell you because we are friends and I know they are going fast at our stores. We had to go to two stores to get enough to make three trees. But why stop at trees where there are a zillion other jingle bell projects to be had.

Love this...spend a couple of bucks and you get something that looks like $94! (Which makes me say "wow"..) Be sure to check the spray paint to make sure it's labeled for Styrofoam--some paint formulas will react with the foam and disintegrate it. Yep--found that out the hard way. But I want to make some of these jingle bell trees for my office! This would be a good Thanksgiving weekend project. Thanks, Karianne!

So cute!!! They do have bigger bells at HL, but they're WAY more expensive! Hmmm . . . might combine the bigger Hobby Lobby and smaller Dollar Tree ones to make a bigger tree . . . I'll let you know if I accomplish it! ;) Thanks for the tutorial!!

Such a happy little tree. I was at my Dollar Tree today and didnt see the bells, then again I was looking for some other things and may have missed them. They come in gold and what other color did you say? Please tell me a creamy white for us neutral Christmas color lovers. ? I suppose it doesnt matter too much, because I could spray paint those as well. Thanks for the cheery craft. I needed some cheering today as our elderly dog is not doing too well. ?

This cute bell with holly leaves and a berry, is a versatile Christmas ornament. You can place it in the tree, let it hang on the wall or in the doorway or just keep it standing on the table. Or why not make several and put them together into a garland. Let your imagination run free.

I enjoyed making this pattern. The directions were very easy to follow. My only complaint is that holly usually has two berries. I ended up tweaking the pattern a bit. I made two berries and made them smaller. I also added a dangling ball for the bell.

There are many different types of christmas bells sold by sellers on Etsy. Some of the popular christmas bells available on Etsy include: christmas bells svg, christmas bells hanging, and even christmas bells ornaments.

Sleigh bells will be ringing, snow will be glistening, and lights will be twinkling as the holiday spirit takes over Ocean Casino Resort once again now - Sunday, December 31.
