Prop 1 Chart Redesign

Background

I received a design request from our Community and Government Relations team to redesign a graph originally created by another teammate. The CEO specifically requested that the graph be simplified and made easier to understand for supporters in presentations and handout materials. 

Tasks

My task was to simplify the existing graph while maintaining the original color scheme, ensuring it was more accessible and visually clear for our audience. 

Process

I decided to use a column-style bar graph, keeping the same color scheme but highlighting key differences in yellow for better clarity. One challenge was that I didn't have access to the original file; however, based on the image shared with me, I identified that it was created in Excel. Recognizing this, I recreated the graph in Excel, which allowed for a smoother redesign process. I incorporated minor feedback, including changing and omitting a few data points, to meet the team's needs. 

Results

The redesign was quick and efficient, receiving positive feedback from all stakeholders. The simplified graph will now be used for future advocacy outreach, improving the clarity and impact of our presentations and materials.
