VOTE Postcard
Fall 2024
Fall 2024
Working alongside my teammate/Communications Specialist, we were tasked with creating a postcard for VOTE Planned Parenthood Northern California, featuring a QR code with voting information for the 2024 election season. My colleague, who was the initial designer, sought my mentorship and design guidance to refine the project. Confidential information has been redacted.
After receiving feedback on the initial draft—which used a strong black-pink contrast—we needed to redesign the postcard to adopt a fresher, more engaging approach. Our goal was to incorporate a bright pink color scheme, a large QR code, and simple imagery to evoke a sense of activism. Additionally, we had to quickly adapt the design to comply with c(4) partisan work guidelines, which required adjustments in color palette and tone.
We collaborated closely to redesign the postcard, opting for bright pink with a large QR code and simplified imagery, including a capital building motif to emphasize activism. I provided guidance on using pink callout text on a black background to highlight key messages effectively. Despite the challenge of integrating the pre-approved "My Body My Vote" graphic with the text while maintaining balance, we focused on creating a clear call to action and stressing the importance of scanning the QR code and visiting the website. This approach ensured that the design was both impactful and compliant with the new guidelines.
The redesigned postcard received positive feedback for its fresh and engaging visual style. The new design enhanced reader interaction, contributing to successful campaign operations and increased engagement with the voting information provided. The collaborative effort and mentorship led to a well-received final product that will effectively meet the campaign’s goals.
While helping my teammate with her initial design, we collaborated on a redesign. This version was ultimately discarded in favor of the final pink version.
