The Value (and Power) of Representation in Comics

July 29, 2021    |   Online    |    9:00 AM

Session Description:

With the ever growing popularity of the graphic novel (GN) format, the opportunity to tell original stories from the perspective of persons of color is growing exponentially. With each new generation of creatives comes a greater opportunity and responsibility to explore personal histories, cultural experiences, and just about any range of concepts and subject matter for a new audience. Join us for a conversation about the ideas, challenges, and rewards of telling stories in the GN format and comics medium.

Speakers:

Jerry Craft, Ezra Claytan Daniels, Dr. Vanessa Hintz, Alitha E. Martinez, Alexander Simmons, and Christina Taylor (moderator)
